  • Patent number: 7469633
Abstract: A pivotally loaded baler system includes a ram, which ram is movable along a horizontal axis, and a housing disposed at least partially about the ram. A pivotable loading member or tube is connected to the housing such that, when the loading member or tube is pivoted to a vertical disposition, a defined loading chute or the loading tube surrounds a vertical axis and an open end of the chute or tube aligns with a loading aperture of the housing. As the loading member or tube is pivoted to the vertical disposition, material is permitted to fall toward the loading aperture. A cutting edge of the ram severs material as the ram extends. Severed upper portions of the material are surrounded by the loading chute or tube and are at least temporarily supported from below by the ram.

  • Patent number: 7461592
Abstract: A wall mountable can crushing apparatus for self-feeding and rapidly repeating manual crushing of beverage cans or the like through user striking includes a housing section for feeding cans through a chute and detaining cans in a crush chamber before crushing. A punch pad for receiving the user strikes is attached to a movable portion carrying a crush piston from a retracted position into a crush position driven into contact with a can in a crush chamber. The piston is biased to be returned to the retracted position after a can is crushed and a discharge allows a crushed can to freefall out of the apparatus. Novelty features such as a pressure activated sound card or advertising mounts may be added to the can crusher for promotional appeal.

  • Patent number: 7448318
Abstract: A machining waste metal recycling machine has an in-feed hopper. The hopper uses paired augers to move the waste metal through the hopper to a cutting and transporting auger. The hopper augers are powered independently from each other, and may be individually reversed or reversed as a group to clear jams. In the event a jam is not cleared through one or more reversal cycles, the remaining augers may be operated to clear the hopper, thereby avoiding the need for manual unloading. Within the hopper are one or more shear bars that are provided to sever bunches or bundles of machining waste and thereby clear tangles which might otherwise jam the augers. The cutting and transporting augers ultimately feed a reciprocating compactor having a movable gate with one or more grooves for controlled drainage of machining oil and other liquid, as the machining waste metal is compressed into pellets.

  • Patent number: 7444931
Abstract: A combination can crushing and retrieving device having a circular or tubular housing containing a plunger and having a rectangular opening in its side wall. The housing has a knife-edged slightly concave indent on the bottom of the housing, which indent generally conforms to the arch section of the necked down portion of a beverage can. When the concave indent is placed on the lip of a can laying on its side and forced down the can will “snap” upright, through the rectangular opening and into the housing. The can is then retained in the housing around the necked down portion by a foam/rubber lining located at the lower inside end of the housing. Then the weighted plunger is forced down onto the can, crushing the can. By placing the end of the device holding the can into a larger receptacle the can may then be ejected from the device by pressing an ejector rod.

  • Patent number: 7434506
Abstract: A propane bottle recycler comprising a bottle station, first and second propane collection tank, compressor, liquid propane storage tank, bottle crusher, and crushed bottle storage compartment. The bottle station comprises a bottle manifold and bottle station frame, and the bottle manifold is pivotally connected to the bottle station frame. Propane bottles are placed in receiving cavities in the bottle manifold and held in place with cam levers, and the bottle manifold is raised to a vertical position. The propane drains out of the propane bottles, through propane hoses into a propane manifold, into the first and second collection tanks, and to a compressor, which repressurizes the propane. The propane is then stored in a liquid propane storage tank. The used propane bottles are crushed by the bottle crusher and stored in the crushed bottle storage compartment.

Abstract: A method for transporting large quantities of convoluted, multiply bent, irregularly shaped, pieces of scrap metal from the location where they are produced to a remote location where the metal may be recycled, comprises flattening and temporarily binding together a batch of such pieces into an assembled wafer. The binding is produced by applying a compressive force of sufficient intensity to temporarily interconnect the pieces together but of insufficient intensity to interconnect the piece tightly enough to resist disassembly of the wafer upon impacting the assembled wafer. After the formation of a wafer comprising the interconnected numerous pieces, the wafer is transported to a remote site for recycling the metal. At such remote site, the wafer is disassembled into its constituent pieces by applying an impact to the wafer of sufficient intensity to cause the disengagement of the pieces for disassembling the wafer.

Pinestraw is loaded at the gate end of the compressive chamber and the compressive plate and compressive arm are moved from the opposite end of the compressive chamber toward the gated end of the compressive chamber compressing the pinestraw contained in the compressive chamber. The compressive motion of the compressive plate and compressive arm is stopped when the pinestraw is compressed to the desired size. The compressed pinestraw is tied off into a bale through slots in the compressive chamber, the gate, and the compressive plate. Once the compressed pinestraw is tied off into a bale, the gate at one end of the compressive chamber is opened.

  • Patent number: 5870951
Abstract: A improved service life baler press assembly including a number of novel press chamber and ram assembly components formed of a relatively hard material, such as a thermoplastic polymer (e.g., acetal resins) or any other suitable material having low static and dynamic coefficients of friction. Press chamber components according to the invention include press wall liners coupled to the press chamber walls. The press wall liners are manufactured of the thermoplastic polymer, and are disposed between the press walls and a ram head during periods of compression. The low static and dynamic coefficients of friction of the thermoplastic polymer material allow the ram head to move inside of the press chamber without damaging the walls of the press chamber. In addition, one embodiment of the present invention includes a ram head cover also composed of a thermoplastic polymer or other suitable material. The ram head cover reduces wear damage to the press wall liners.

Abstract: A high-pressure and a method for high-pressure treatment of substances. The high-pressure press comprises a high-pressure cylinder consisting of a number of concentrically arranged cylinder elements (1, 2, 3). The cylinder elements (1, 2, 3) are radially prestressed to a predetermined prestress and surround a high-pressure chamber (6) for accommodating a pressurized medium. A thin safety liner (3), which is intended to be placed in the high-pressure cylinder until a fracture arises on the safety liner (3), is arranged in the interior of the high-pressure cylinder. Further, means (14, 15) are provided to conduct at least part of the pressurized medium from the high-pressure chamber (6) when a fracture arises on the safety liner (3). The means (14, 15) comprise at least one channel (14) running essentially along the outer envelope surface of the safety liner (3). The method comprises using the high-pressure press without liner replacement until a fracture has occurred on the thin safety liner.

  • Patent number: 5461975
Abstract: A low friction liner is described for mounting to an agricultural material baler within the discharge chute for the baled materials. The liner includes liner plates of low friction material that are attached by a mount to the inwardly facing surfaces of the baler discharge chute. The low friction material provides inwardly facing low friction wear surfaces used to engage and guide materials along the discharge chute to a open discharge end. In one preferred embodiment, the low friction surfaces are flat and continuous from forward to rearward ends of the discharge chute plates. In another preferred form, angular indentations are made within the liner with incised or indented shoulders facing the rearward ends of the discharge chute plates to provide abutment surfaces for avoidance of "spring back" of baled materials as they are moved toward the discharge end.
