    Abstract: Apparatus for forming a loop of strap about a package in which the strap is initially draped about the package in spaced relationship therefrom. Included is a clamping bar assembly which includes a package engaging member and a pair of spaced catch blocks over which the strap is draped. The catch blocks are rotatably mounted relative to the clamp bar assembly and are operated through the action of rack and pinion assemblies that respond to the movement of the package engaging member. When the package is engaged, the catch blocks release the strap normally guided thereby and when the clamp bar is retracted, the catch blocks are repositioned to guide a subsequent loop of strap.

    Abstract: An apparatus and method are disclosed for forming a loop of flexible binding about objects positioned seriatim in an object receiving station. The apparatus includes a chain loop driven around the object receiving station. While a previously bound first object is in the receiving station, the chain is driven in one direction to move carrier rollers on the chain so as to pull the trailing portion of a binding through a major portion of the locus of a closed path around the receiving station while the lead end of the binding is held adjacent the receiving station. Spaced portions of the binding are guided from the interior of the path around the receiving station to maintain the binding in the configuration spaced outwardly of the receiving station. Subsequently, the first bound object is removed from the receiving station and a second object is positioned therein.

    Abstract: Machine for tying packages or the like in which the tying means which is held fast at one end is guided by means of a tying means guide device around the package in the manner that the tying means guide device which is driven cyclically back and forth, its forward movement, accumulates a layer of tying means which surrounds the package, which layer is wound around the package upon the following return run, and in which there is preferably provided, below the support table for the package, a sealing device which connects the ends of the tying means and cuts off one end, the sealing device having grippers associated with it for holding the tying means fast. Each one of the grippers together with the end of the tying means held fast by it, carries out in cyclic dependency, a rotary movement which turns the gripper slot around. One of the two grippers, respectively, which are additionally axially displaceable, in a crosswise rotary position of its gripping slot S, pushes the tying means from the sealing device.

    Abstract: A cyclicly operable machine for providing a tensioned loop of fusible thermoplastic strapping about a loosely positioned object, wherein a hoop-mounted slip-feed carrier is caused to orbit the object in one direction while one end of the strapping is held by a gripper. In so orbiting, the carrier progressively wraps a closed loop about the object, the loop having overlapping ends which become sealed to each other by a friction-fusion operation. Such sealing accomplished by a cooperating anvil and vibrator which move into the strap path to create the seal and away from the path to allow the sealed loop to completely seize the object, after which a cutter severs the excess strapping from the object. A reverse orbiting of the carrier similarly applied a successive strap loop to the object.

    Abstract: An apparatus for wrapping a plurality of loads into a wrapped package comprising a conveyor adapted to receive a plurality of loads and a film dispensing apparatus. This film dispensing apparatus comprises a frame, a ring member rotatably mounted on the frame, a film roll support and brake member mounted on the ring member. A guide wrapping rail is aligned with the conveyor to receive and carry loads transported by the conveyor and is so positioned that one end passes through the ring member. A material handling assembly having two clamp mechanisms, is positioned adjacent the dispenser apparatus. One of the clamp mechanisms is adapted to alternately hold the leading edge of a roll of stretchable material carried by the ring member film roll support in a fixed position while the other clamp mechanism holds the trailing edge of the stretchable material to form the package wrap.
