  • Patent number: 11312026
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for vacuum handling of composite parts. One embodiment is a method for picking up, placing, and compacting an object. The method includes covering a part of an object with an impermeable membrane, applying a negative pressure via an end effector that is sufficient to offset any air leaks between a first portion of the impermeable membrane and the object, thereby forming a suction hold that secures the object to the impermeable membrane, and transporting the object to a rigid tool while the suction hold is retained. The method further comprises applying a negative pressure via the end effector that offsets air leaks between a second portion of the impermeable membrane and the rigid tool, thereby forming a suction hold that compacts the object to the rigid tool.

  • Patent number: 10922647
Abstract: At the time of manufacture of medical items that are to be consumed during patient care, a unique identification number is assigned to each item and the number is encoded in an RFID tag attached to the item. The manufacturer registers the unique identification number for each individual medical item in a Unique Device Identification (UDI) Serialized Tracking Database. The UDI Serialized Tracking Database maps each unique identification number to each item's UDI number that has been assigned by the Food and Drug Administration. As each item is consumed during medical treatment and its cost is billed to payers, the unique identification number of the item is reported and verified. This provides for detection of certain types of fraud in the dispensing of medical items by validating that necessary supplies were actually used during patient care.

Abstract: Highly accurate press working is performed while responding to mechanical alteration due to thermal expansion. Prior to a series of processing to a workpiece, a servomotor control unit moves a slide to a stop position, and a sensing value detecting unit detects a sensing value of a sensing element at the stop position of the slide, and stores the detected sensing value. Then, in the series of processing, the sensing value detecting unit detects a sensing value of the sensing element at the stop position of the slide, and stores the detected sensing value in the processing sensing value storing unit. A correction value calculating unit calculates a correction value based on the two store values, and a servomotor control unit controls the servomotor based on the detected slide position, the slide position that has been set, and the correction value calculated by the correction value calculating unit.

  • Patent number: 9003964
Abstract: An apparatus for forming bundles of printed products includes a lift element that moves vertically inside a holding area. The printed products are deposited on the lift element when the lift element is in an upper position. The lift moves the deposited printed products downward into the holding area so that the printed products are in position to subsequently be compressed into a bundle by pressing the printed products with an upward movement against a pressing element. The lift transports the compressed bundle to a lower position in the holding area where the lift element moves out of the holding area to a position in which the bundle is released to drop onto a support element. The lift element thereafter is moveable from the lower position to the upper position for the depositing of additional printed products. An ejection element conveys the compressed bundle out of the holding area.

Abstract: Devices and methods for storing and dispensing herbs can incorporate a container, a cap and an insert. The container has an opening extending from a proximal to an opposing distal end. An interior wall of the container is threaded at least a portion of its longitudinal length. The cap is releasably coupleable with the distal end. The insert, which is engaged with the proximal end, has a handle at one end and a head at an opposing end. The head of the insert is threadedly coupled to the interior wall of the container such that rotation of the handle results in movement longitudinally along the container. As a result, rotation of the handle when the head and the cap are coupled to the container results in compression of herbs or the like; and further rotation of the handle when the cap is removed results in the herb being forced out of the container.

Abstract: The present invention provides a means for compressing paper stack height and method for controlling paper stack height, the means mainly comprising at least one pressurizer and at least one elevator, the elevator being allowed for adjusting up/down position of the pressurizer on the basis of paper stack height of paper product, correspondingly, the pressurizer in the adjusted position being allowed for pressurizing each paper product, in turn, by means of a pressure plate, in such a way that paper stack height of each paper product may be compressed into a predetermined height. Then, the paper stack height of each manufactured paper product may be controlled to be uniform, so as to stabilize production condition of paper products. Thus, not only manufacturing quality of paper product may be enhanced, but also probability of failure in the production equipment may be reduced.
