With Material Winding Or Folding Patents (Class 100/5)
  • Patent number: 4158331
Abstract: In a crop roll forming machine which forms large cylindrically shaped bales in a bale forming region and wraps the bales with a binding material and which further has a wrapping means for controlling the wrapping of the completed bale there is provided at least a first and a second binding material dispensing means adjacent the bale forming region connected to the wrapping means so that upon actuation of the wrapping means the first dispensing means is driven across a portion of the bale forming region in a first predetermined path and the second dispensing means is driven in a second predetermined path. The predetermined paths are adjacent the completed bale to effect the wrapping of the bale substantially across its length as the bale is rotated by the bale forming means of the crop roll forming machine.

  • Patent number: 4133258
Abstract: A device for helically binding or wrapping a compacted rolled bale of windrowed agricultural crop material with twine, the crop material is rolled and compressed into a bale in a baling machine which includes a pair of spaced rolling members supported between a pair of spaced side walls of the baling machine. The rollers extend across the width of the machine and the gap between the spaced rollers forms the inlet through which the crop material is fed into the baling machine. A twine guide assembly, for guiding a strand of twine into and along the gap between the rollers, is mounted for movement in a straight linear path along and parallel to the gap formed between the rollers so that the twine can be uniformly fed to the bale.

  • Patent number: 4094239
Abstract: An apparatus for cutting hay baler twine comprised of a fixed blade and twine guide members secured to the baler frame by a blade and guide support. The blade, guide members and support are positioned in proximity to the path of a twine directing member so that as material is dispensed via the directing member as it moves along a path in the vicinity of a formed bale yet within the machine, the twine will be directed against the blade with the aid of twine guide members and thus severed from the twine supply.

  • Patent number: 4072095
Abstract: An improved twine wrapping mechanism is provided for a roll forming machine having a frame defining a roll forming region. The twine wrapping mechanism includes an elongated dispensing tube and means for mounting the dispensing tube forwardly of the bale forming region on the frame such that the tube can be driven in a predetermined path across the bale forming region. The tube is fastened at one end to a gear segmented plate which is supported on one end of a shaft rotatably mounted on the frame. The dispensing tube is adapted to be driven along its predetermined path either manually by a handle having a gear segment that driveably mates with the gear segmented plate or automatically by a hydraulic cylinder that is operably connected to the shaft that rotatably supports the plate and the tube.

  • Patent number: 4062279
Abstract: A roll forming machine having a frame defining a roll forming region is provided with an improved twine wrapping mechanism that includes an elongated twine dispensing tube that is adapted to swing across the bale forming region in a predetermined path during the twine wrapping operation. A twine severing means in the form of a striker plate and a movable knife is provided for severing the twine at the completion of the wrapping operation. A latch, movable between tube receiving and tube holding positions is also provided for positively retaining the twine dispensing tube in a rest condition at the completion of the wrapping operation and during the roll forming operation. The latch and the knife are interconnected such that the knife is driven against the striker plate, clamping the twine therebetween, as the twine dispensing tube is driven into the latch forcing the same from its tube receiving to its tube holding position.

  • Patent number: 4057954
Abstract: A roll forming machine picks up crop material and forms, twine wraps and discharges rolls or large round bales thereof as the machine is continuously moving across the field. The machine has a mobile frame supporting a pickup and a floor, the latter supporting a lower conveyor. A rear upper apron is movably supported on the frame above a rear portion of the lower conveyor and floor and defines a rear roll forming region therewith. A front upper apron is movably supported on the frame above a front portion of the lower conveyor and floor and defines a front roll forming region therewith having an inlet end and a discharge end. The front upper apron has a portion located at the discharge end of the region which is disposable in closely spaced relationship above the conveyor means and floor.

  • Patent number: 4024804
Abstract: A rotary baling machine for forming large cylindrical bales of cut crop material such as hay which includes an improved twine feeding mechanism for winding twine around the formed bales and an improved articulated drive shaft extending from the power source of the towing vehicle to the power transmitting means of the baling machine for driving the baling mechanism. The twine feeding mechanism includes an improved twine guiding and feeding means which permits controlled and uniform wrapping of twine around the desired length of the bale and further includes a simplified means for cutting the twine at the completion of each bale wrapping cycle. The twine feeding mechanism is driven by a hydraulic means which can be readily controlled by the tractor operator whereby the operator can regulate the amount and position of twine wound around the bale.

  • Patent number: 4023479
Abstract: Apparatus on a round bale forming machine for wrapping a strand of binding twine around a round bale of crop material prior to discharging said bale from the machine. Said apparatus includes a strand directing arm pivotally supported upon a fixed member adjacent the forward end of the machine for movement of the outer end of the arm by powered actuating mechanism between opposite sides of the machine to effect a roving of the twine feeding from said outer end of the arm around and between opposite ends of a round bale to place tension upon said twine as fed from said outer end of said arm, and including an auxiliary spring connected to said arm and operable to produce supplemental tensioning force upon said outer end of said arm as the same approaches the outer extremities of the path of movement thereof.

  • Patent number: 3988977
Abstract: A hay baler for picking up windrowed hay, forming a cylindrical bale, feeding twine onto the bale during the latter stage of bale formation, and cutting the twine after the bale is wrapped. The hay is picked up and fed rearwardly under a press roller onto an endless belt. A plurality of oppositely running belts is disposed above the lower belt defining a bale-forming zone there-between. The twine extends from a source of supply on the baler through an elongated twine feed tube. The tube is pivotally mounted such that its dispensing end is swingable through an arc above the incoming hay to and from a home position for feeding twine into the hay and around the bale. As the tube is swung back toward the home position a twine hook is actuated through an interconnected linkage and the twine is pulled downwardly onto a fixed knife which severs the twine.
