The present invention adopts metering-type ink delivery units to replace the ink keys of the traditional printing press, and the metering-type ink delivery units directly deliver the ink to the corresponding ink zones on the metering basis of either volume or mass, realizing the quantitative supply of ink to each one of the ink zones. The present invention can perform accurate adjustment in real time, is high in automation and digitalization degree and large in adjustable range, realizes one-way ink delivery and avoids ink return.

    Abstract: A color control system for use in a printing press is provided. The system includes a controller for reviewing digital data for a print job and identifying solid color regions of the print job that are greater than a predetermined size, a user interface allowing an operator to select solid color regions identified by the controller, a sensor for measuring a characteristic of the selected solid color regions of the print job on a printed substrate, the controller determining measured values of the characteristic for each of the selected solid color regions, and at least one inking unit for supplying ink in a plurality of ink zones to a plate cylinder, the controller varying the ink supplied to ink zones including the solid color regions as function of a difference between the measured value of the characteristic of each selected solid color region and a predetermined target value of the characteristic. A method for controlling printing of a printing press is also provided.

The advance binary amount, the retard binary amount and the retard-advance binary amount of set through binary switch inputs to respective counters to count the respective time periods (TG3, TG1, and TG2).

    Abstract: A belt drive cantilever tensioner. The tensioner is particularly suited to belt drive systems having a high belt tension. The tensioner comprises a pulley journaled to a cantilever arm. The cantilever arm is pivotably attached to a mounting surface by a fastener at a pivot. The cantilever arm further comprises a hole disposed radially from the pivot for containing an embedded resilient member. A second fastener extends through the resilient member fixing it in a position relative to the first fastener. A load applied to the pulley causes the arm to pivot thereby causing a lever action to exert a force upon the resilient member. The resilient member has a limit of movement as well as an asymmetric force characteristic which increases in proportion to an arm rotation.

    Abstract: A rotary offset printing press which has a series of printing units of identical make through which a web of paper is threaded. In each printing unit the blanket cylinder is made displaceable into and out of printing engagement with the plate cylinder and the impression cylinder. The cylinders of each printing unit are driven from a separate variable-speed motor via a train of gears which stay intermeshed whether the blanket cylinder is in or out of printing engagement with the other cylinders. A clutch is inserted between the drive linkage and the impression cylinder for connecting and disconnecting the latter to and from the former. A plate change is possible in any of the printing units by moving the blanket cylinder out of printing engagement with the plate cylinder and the impression cylinder, and declutching the impression cylinder from the drive linkage, in that printing unit while the other printing unit or units are in continuous operation for printing the web.
