Roller Patents (Class 101/205)
  • Patent number: 8001890
Abstract: An inker for applying ink to a transfer roll of a printing machine has an inking chamber extending longitudinally along the transfer roll and having an outlet also extending longitudinally along the transfer roll and open against the transfer roll and a first generally cylindrical mixing chamber centered on an axis, spaced transversely from and extending longitudinally along the transfer roll. A rotatable shaft extending along the axis in the mixing chamber carries a partition subdividing the mixing chamber into two axially adjacent and axially spaced mixing compartments open radially into the inking chamber. At least two inlet conduits open onto each of the compartments, and a pump feeds respective inks to the inlet conduits and therethrough into the mixing compartments.

  • Patent number: 7269598
Abstract: An extension of an inverse inference search engine is disclosed which provides cross language document retrieval, in which the information matrix used as input to the inverse inference engine is organized into rows of blocks corresponding to languages within a predetermined set of natural languages. The information matrix is further organized into two column-wise partitions. The first partition consists of blocks of entries representing fully translated documents, while the second partition is a matrix of blocks of entries representing documents for which translations are not available in all of the predetermined languages. Further in the second partition, entries in blocks outside the main diagonal of blocks are zero. Another disclosed extension to the inverse inference retrieval document retrieval system supports automatic, knowledge based training.

  • Patent number: 5065676
Abstract: A roller for distributing a coating material such as ink in a press is mounted on a shaft for sliding axially on and rotating on the shaft. First and second internally threaded sleeves are fixed internally of the roller coaxially with each other and concentric to the shaft. One of the threads has a left hand twist and the other has a right hand twist. Two follower plungers, one having left hand thread segments and the other having right hand thread segments are meshed alternately with the left and right hand twist square threads. A link spans between double armed levers which connect to the follower plungers, respectively. When one plunger is automatically forced out of engagement with its cooperating thread in the one sleeve, a force is transmitted through the link to the other lever which causes the other follower plunger and its thread segments to mesh with the internal threads on the other sleeve so the roller changes the direction of its axial movement.

  • Patent number: 4760787
Abstract: A two color printer of the ink roll type which can attain change-over in color with high accuracy with a simple construction. The printer comprises a plurality of type wheels arranged in a row and a pair of ink rolls in which inks of different colors are impregnated. A change-over cam is integrally provided on an end one of the type wheels and has first and second cam sections formed in an axially and circumferentially displaced phase relationship thereon. The ink rolls are carrier on a roll carrier which is mounted for pivotal and sliding movement toward and away from the type wheels and has first and second cam pawls opposed to the first and second cam sections of the change-over cam, respectively, whereby the first and second cam pawls of the roll carrier are alternately engaged with the first and second cam sections of the change-over cam, respectively, to selectively contact one of the ink rolls with the type wheels.
