  • Patent number: 5942094
Abstract: The invention relates to a printing head system for an electrocoagulation printing apparatus. The printing head system of the invention comprises an electrode carrier, a linear array of electrolytically inert electrodes electrically insulated from one another and mounted to the electrode carrier, the array of electrodes being arranged into a plurality of groups each having a predetermined number of closely spaced electrodes, and a driver circuit for addressing the electrodes of selected groups. The driver circuit is responsive to a graphical data input signal to cause simultaneous passage of electric current through at least a major portion of the electrodes in a selected one of the groups, the major portion of electrodes including electrodes that are contiguous with one another. Such a printing head system is capable of improving the quality of the image reproduced by electrocoagulation of an electrolytically coagulable colloid.

  • Patent number: 5888367
Abstract: The present invention provides a record sheet used in an electro-coagulation printing method for forming characters and images on a cylinder as an electrode with an ink which coagulates with electric charge and for transferring the characters and images to the record sheet, wherein the wet time is 15 milliseconds or less, obtained from the absorption curve of pure water measured by a dynamic scanning absorptometer. Preferably, the record sheet has 5 ml/m.sup.2 s.sup.-1/2 or more absorption coefficient, and more preferably, has contact ratio measured by a specular reflection smoothness tester under a pressure of 40 kg/cm.sup.2 with a ray having a wavelength of 0.5 .mu.m is 40% or more. The record sheet can be used for various print sheets, in particular, for business form sheets and newspaper sheets.

  • Patent number: 5553161
Abstract: In a process for creating a data base for the reproduction of a copy on a web of material, primary colors are first applied on a sample of the web of material singly, in pairs, or three together in different quantitative proportions of color (a1, a2, a3) in respectively predetermine screen areas (16). Then, the individual screen areas (16) are colorimetrically measured in order to determine color correction values dependent on the quantitative proportions of color (a1, a2, a3). Thereafter, a dot-by-dot colorimetric measurement of the copy takes place in order to obtain, in each case, color values of the copy. The color values are then corrected by the color correction values in order to obtain corrected quantitative proportions of color for each dot of the copy. These corrected quantitative proportions of color are stored and can be used at a later point in time in order to define, for example, hole sizes in the screen printing stencils for reproduction of the copy.
