  • Patent number: 5060569
Abstract: An improved, multiple-station convertible web-fed printing press is provided wherein respective press stations include permanent modules with replaceable, differently configured inserts. The station modules each include a pair of eccentrically mounted, insert-engaging rails which are pivoted for accurate placement of a press insert within the module; final insert lockup is provided by an eccentric hook assembly which generates several thousand pounds of locking force, in order to secure the insert against misalignment and subsequent insert shifting. Insert replacement operations are facilitated by means of a mobile cart including insert-supporting rails alignable with the module rails. Temporary interconnection of the cart and module rails is afforded by means of endmost connection hooks and yokes on the cart rails, which mate the module sidewall and the corresponding reduced diameter segments provided in the module rails.

  • Patent number: 4989514
Abstract: The trolley comprises a movable frame (2) carrying two separate print assemblies comprising cylinder (5-5a), doctor (6-6a) and ink rail (7-7a), and is capable of traversing horizontally at right angles to the print station of a rotary machine; the frame can be locked into two distinct positions, each of which has one of the two print assemblies correctly aligned with the impression cylinder and the rotary drive shaft, while the other stands off the machine and is freely accessible for servicing purposes. The trolley also has its own on-board drive system capable of setting the cylinder of the spare print assembly in rotation on the frame, independently of the other cylinder, which continues occupying and operating in the print station, so that adjustments can be made in readiness for the next run without stopping the machine.

  • Patent number: 4961379
Abstract: To permit access to accessory apparatus, such as inkers or dampers, or parts thereof, through an opening in the side wall of the printing machine which is so small, for reasons of printing machine stability, that normal access thereto is impaired, at least part of the accessory apparatus is located on a slide carriage (27) which is supported similar to a suspension slide on a carriage support rail (28). The carriage support rail (28) is secured to one side wall with a pivot hinge, so that it can be pivoted laterally, horizontally, to remove the part of the accessory apparatus by sliding it outwardly on the slide carriage. A holder extension (39) slidable on the support (38) is secured to the other side wall (1) of the printing machine supports the carriage support rail and provides an end stop for the accessory apparatus when the carriage support rail is swung outwardly.
