Patent number: 6688234Abstract: A paint ball land mine comprising multiple PVC parts detonates and marks simulated casualties. The mine may be easily field stripped by hand. The mine forcibly detonates in response to physical contact without unbalancing, so that tilting forces that otherwise misaim the mine are avoided. A rigid cylindrical two-part base threadably receives a removable top. A sealed interior for holding colored fluid is defined therebetween. A gas cartridge housed vertically interiorly of the base may be detonated when forced into contact with a puncture pin. An integral, upwardly projecting dome mounts a detonator assembly, comprising a tubular plunger that slidably contacts the cartridge when fired. Escaping gases pressurize the mine interior, forcing colored liquid upwardly and outwardly through multiple discharge passageways that are angled acutely to aim fluid away from the center. A removable safety pin, temporarily engaging the plunger, may be “pulled” to “set” the mine.Type: GrantFiled: May 9, 2002Date of Patent: February 10, 2004Assignee: Paintball Combat LLCInventors: Eric D. Patent number: 6598807Abstract: The present invention comprises a casing with an opened end for receiving a liquid and a holding end where the liquid is stored. Between the open end and the holding end there narrow neck. A ball is placed into the opened end of the casing, so that lodging the ball into the neck will seal the neck area so that the liquid contained within the holding area will remain in the holding area until the ball is dislodged upon impact. Attached to the opened end of the casing is a nozzle. The nozzle serves two purposes, first it assures that the liquid contained within the casing does not quickly run out of the device upon impact minimizing the spray area covered by the liquid. Additionally the nozzle contains a number of holes distributed throughout the surface of said nozzle, so that the passage of liquid through the nozzle will cause the device to flail erratically, further maximizing the area sprayed by the device.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 2002Date of Patent: July 29, 2003Inventor: John Anzalone

Patent number: 5661257Abstract: A covert, i.e., no visible light emitted, multispectral day/night target marker is disclosed. The marker emits a signature detectable in the electromagnetic spectrum including visible, near infrared, middle and longwave infrared, and radar regions. The marker is particularly useful for marking of target areas so that they can be easily detected from the ground or the air. The visible spectrum is marked by a white or colored pyrotechnic smoke generant. The near infrared region is marked by near infrared emitting photodiodes encased in a hardened polymeric molding compound. These diodes are only visible through night vision devices (image intensifiers). The middle through the far infrared regions are marked by the heat generated from the combustion of the pyrotechnic smoke generant. The smoke generant is housed in a canister having a highly emissive surface. The radar region is marked using radar chaff. The target marker is configured for use with conventional mortar or rocket delivered flare systems.Type: GrantFiled: January 16, 1996Date of Patent: August 26, 1997Assignee: Thiokol CorporationInventors: Daniel B. Patent number: 5654524Abstract: A projectile has a hollow casing (1, 2) with a perforated nose portion (11), a piston (3) disposed within the casing, and a marking substance (4) disposed forwardly of the piston. The piston (3) is movable forwardly under force applied to it by gas used to discharge the projectile. The marking substance (4) is thereby compressed and expelled through the nose portion for contact with a target.Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 1996Date of Patent: August 5, 1997Assignee: Constantia (International) Ltd.Inventor: Michael Ernest Saxby

Patent number: 5639526Abstract: A paint ball including a paint ball shell and an axis extending through the shell to define first and second poles. The paint ball shell fractures in a predetermined pattern upon the receipt of a fracturing force to form fracture lines from the point of impact circumferentially toward the first pole and from the point of impact circumferentially toward the second pole.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 1993Date of Patent: June 17, 1997Assignee: Perfect Circle Paint Ball, Inc.Inventors: Thomas G. Patent number: 5614657Abstract: A three dimensionally measuring apparatus includes a gun, a pedestal of the gun, three microphones, a pedestal of a product and a data processor. The gun shoots very small bullets at a target such as a casting product. The very small bullets explode or rupture and high frequency sound at the time of hitting against the target. The three microphones catch the high frequency sounds. All these sound data are gathered to the data processor, and processed into three dimensional data of the surface of the product.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 1994Date of Patent: March 25, 1997Inventor: Shintaro Harada

Patent number: 5590886Abstract: Reusable, mechanically powered Paint Ball Grenade utilizing 0.68 or smaller diameter paint balls. Accepting and storing said paint balls between its upper and lower sections and behind a fingerguard. The device is designed to be grasped in such a way as to engage one or more safety interlocks during the removal of the safety pin. Once thrown downrange the actuator will function upon impact allowing the grenade halves to collapse with the force of the primary spring, crushing the paint balls against cutters and causing the paint to be hydromechanically dispersed about the exterior of the device. The device may be reloaded by expanding the two halves, thus compressing the primary spring, reinserting the safety pin, and reloading new paint balls.Type: GrantFiled: August 1, 1995Date of Patent: January 7, 1997Inventor: Craig L.
