Practice Or Cleaning Patents (Class 102/529)
  • Patent number: 4411200
Abstract: A short range trajectory round having an aerodynamic resistance which sharply increases at a predetermined time after discharge of the round from a barrel of a weapon. The round includes a body having a longitudinal axis and a forward tip portion and a rear base portion with at least one segment forming a part of the body and arranged for outward movement away from the longitudinal axis. The at least one segment at least partially delimits an inner cavity within the body terminating at a predetermined distance from the tip portion, and a plunger having a forward portion and a rearward portion is disposed within the cavity and arranged for movement in the longitudinal direction of the round between at least a rearward position and a forward position.

  • Patent number: 4393783
Abstract: A disintegrable projectile is disclosed which utilizes thermal energy obted from the conversion of the kinetic energy of the air moving past the projectile to cause its fragmentation. The projectile employs an air intake nozzle axially disposed in the nose portion of the projectile and a resonance tube located in the body portion of the projectile in thermal contact therewith. The resonance tube develops the thermal energy which is transmitted to the body portion to cause the fragmentation thereof. The projectile of the present invention is intended for use in gunnery training and practice conducted within limited size training and practice ranges, where civilian personnel and property may be in proximate location.

  • Patent number: 4391199
Abstract: Safety ammunition for use with a variety of weapons has a holder, charge carrier and a projectile. The holder has a base and cylindrical and frustoconical holes. The charge carrier is retained by the holder and includes a nose, a hollow central portion which can receive a powder charge, a tail with a base, a collar between the nose and the tail, and a cover adapted to close the hollow portion at the base. The projectile has a base and central hole and is retained between the holder and the carrier. This ammunition results in lower noise levels upon shooting as well as reducing range and danger upon firing.

  • Patent number: 4362107
Abstract: Practice projectile for target practice, which corresponds in shape and weight to a normal combat projectile, particularly to a sub-caliber combat projectile. The projectile upon impact disintegrates at preset breaking points. The projectile is unitary, but has at least one preset breaking point along its length. The projectile may be constructed as a tail-stabilized arrow-shaped projectile with a propulsive sabot extending over the preset breaking line and the preset breaking line may be positioned in the zone of the minimum firing loading.

  • Patent number: 4361093
Abstract: A round of ammunition in which a primer cap provides the sole means for propelling a lightweight missle from a cartridge casing shaped to fit into an existing firearms firing chamber. A removable insert in the cartridge casing 12 provides an elongate passage which moderates the force of the primer cap explosion to avoid damaging the missile. The casing is reloadable from the base to allow a fresh missile to be inserted, and in an alternative embodiment a two part insert is provided which likewise allows a missile to be inserted from the base end. In all embodiments the missile is preferable in the form of an air gun pellet, and the ammunition is preferably used with a liner assembly adapted to minimize damage to the missile.
