  • Patent number: 5385249
Abstract: The disclosure involves a material handling machine such as a lattice-type portal crane having an elongate lattice girder suspended from a girder beam by a first and second support links. In turn, the girder beam is supported at an elevation by a pair of legs. The improvement comprises a force transfer link coupling the support links so that forces transferred between the girder beam and either leg are isolated from the girder. The girder, which is triangular-shaped, has a top apex-like chord member and a pair of lower chord members. The support links and the force transfer link support the girder at the lower chord members and the top chord member is spaced (and therefore, isolated) from the girder beam.

  • Patent number: 5360123
Abstract: An apparatus and method for stabilizing a gantry. Powerful springs in the apparatus allow small deviations from a perpendicular configuration of a boom and beam arrangement. The springs resist larger deviations, thereby increasing the structural integrity and safety of the apparatus and method. The method stabilizes the gantry by providing a progressively increasing restoring force as the boom and beam travel farther from a starting position corresponding to a perpendicular relationship between the boom and the beam.

  • Patent number: 5337908
Abstract: Disclosed is a patient hoist for use in a room having a floor and at least one pair of parallel spaced walls at opposite sides of the floor. The hoist includes a frame having a pair of track beams and a pair of connecting beams, and a plurality of legs for supporting the frame elevated above the floor, four of the legs being corner legs having first and second beam engagement members extending therefrom for slidably engaging respective ones of the beams. Each corner leg is connected respectively to an end extremity of one track beam and an end extremity of one connecting beam for joining the beams. The connections between the corner legs and the beams are telescopically adjustable for locating at least one pair of the beams proximate the walls at opposite sides of the floor.

  • Patent number: 5022542
Abstract: A crane leg connection is disclosed in which a crane has a frame length greater than its width, and has supporting legs including facing leg members connected to the frame and extending from the frame downward and away from each other and away from the frame in a direction transverse to the length of the frame. A support beam is mounted on the frame, and at least one of the leg members is connected to the support beam. A support arm connects the support beam and the frame together and carries the vertical load on the frame and transfers that load through the support beam to the leg. The support arm is connected to the support beam and frame such that the leg and frame are movable relative the each other transversely to the length of the frame. Another arm is affixed to at least one of the leg members and extends toward the frame, and an arm affixed to the frame extends toward the arm affixed to the leg member.

  • Patent number: 4826076
Abstract: A device for the support of driving tracks for toy vehicles, in particular driving tracks consisting of track segments which are plugged together and which have a center section laterally bounded by guiding elements. The center section of each track segment is designed to be a road surface forming driving lanes which are spaced above set-up surfaces. Provision is made for the support of track segments on any desired level by an arrangement comprising an upright column designed for connection with a base plate by use of a male and female plug system and consisting of upright column segments. Such segments are axially and detachably plugged into each other one on top of the other and have support arms. These arms are suspendable on such segments of the upright column in prepared holes or are symmetrically supportable on the free end of the upright column by means of a sleeve part.

  • Patent number: 4607574
Abstract: A conveyor for carrying roofing debris to the edge of a roof which may be easily assembled on a roof with any pitch, moved from area to area as the work of tearing off old roofing material progresses and disassembled. A track, an assembly of track sections, is supported on a number of H frames which are braced and adjustable to accommodate any slant to the roof, by legs slidably adjustable in sleeved attachments to horizontal supporting bars. A winch, attached toward the loading end of the track, with cable attached to the winch and cart, controls descent of the cart down the track and may also be used to draw the cart back toward the loading end.

  • Patent number: 4334480
Abstract: Leg structure for portable, height-adjustable gantries is disclosed having an upper, single vertical tubular post member telescopingly received within an open-ended sleeve formed by coupled aligned channel members of lower, break-apart sectional supporting framework. The channel members are supported and elevated by diagonal bracing members and struts giving a generally inverted-Y shaped configuration to the leg so that it can straddle objects and permitting the free, unobstructed downward passage of the post through the lower opening of the sleeve. A locking bolt passes through aligned holes in the post and channels to selectively hold their relative positions, with hand-operated winch means aiding the movement of the post. Post extension members are disclosed which can be added to the leg post while the gantry is assembled. The plate connection between the top of the post and a load-supporting I-beam is externally and internally braced by triangles and post weldment or casting insert elements, respectively.

  • Patent number: 4294176
Abstract: The invention is an improved portable hoist frame for use in automotive and other type work that requires a frame from which to hang a hoist to lift automotive components and other objects. The portable frame consists of detachable elements for a knock-down disassembly to facilitate transportation and handling thereof. The disassembly can be into four major subassemblies or further disassembled into individual members. Four wheel-like rollers on the frame permit movement on a base or framework of equipment on which work is being performed. Four clip-like attachments prevent sidewise movement of the frame during use. A hoist is attached to the top member of the assembled frame.

  • Patent number: 4041875
Abstract: A load-handling gantry having a single, unitary, bridging beam, and leg, brace and mounting components supporting the beam with provision for adjustment of gantry span, height, and spread, while maintaining gantry mobility. The mounting components are adjustable to enable use of the gantry in a number of configurations including inboard, outboard, and combination leg bracing, and with freedom for use under cantilever conditions. In the preferred embodiment, a predetermined camber, or longitudinal splay angle, of the plane of each pair of legs is provided, to decrease movement between the gantry legs and the beam, in the direction lengthwise of the beam, when the gantry is under load, thereby stabilizing the gantry in that sense. The selected splay angle is maintained by apparatus which couples the leg bracing struts to the beam and to the legs.
