Worm Gear Patents (Class 105/119)
  • Patent number: 4733617
Abstract: A driving device for rail vehicles having both a friction drive and a cog gear drive has a common drive shaft placed in the longitudinal direction of the rail vehicle. The drive shaft is provided with driving worms which mesh with worm gears on the driving axles of the friction drive and the cog gear drive. The worms are axially spaced on the drive shaft and engage the respective drive gears of the friction and cog gear drives which are located under the drive motor so as to obtain greater traction force with the friction drive and a more positive meshing of the cog gear with the rack.
