Abstract: The improved assembly includes a truck having a generally horizontal trailer frame supported on rotatable wheels. The upper surface of the frame preferably includes a dished portion adapted to receive the assembly's open-topped, curved container bin, and also includes spaced rollers rotatably supporting the bin above the bottom surface of the dished portion. An upwardly directed tilt link is pivotally connected to at least one end of the frame adjacent one side thereof and to the upper end of the bin adjacent the opposite side thereof. A ram, preferably hydraulic, is pivotally connected to the side of the frame at a point remote from the tilt link and extends upwardly to pivotally connect to the upper part of the bin. If desired, a pair of tilt links can be used at opposite ends of the frame, with the ram spaced therebetween. During extension of the ram, the bin initially rotates on the rollers, without lateral displacement, enabling side loading from low slung bucket arms.
Abstract: The self-propelled load carrying vehicle includes a vehicle framework supported by road wheels, and railroad wheels are mounted on the framework and are movable up and down with respect to the framework for supporting the vehicle from the railroad track. The rear road wheels propel the vehicle along the track. A sub-frame is rotatably mounted on the vehicle framework about an upwardly extending axis, and dump body is pivotally mounted on the sub-frame about an approximately horizontal axis. A conveyor is mounted to the rear end of the sub-frame and rotates with the sub-frame and dump body and receives the load from the dump body when the dump body is tilted and progressively urges the load on beyond the rear opening of the dump body.
Abstract: In an airplane adapted to carrying cargo, particularly wheeled and/or tracked vehicles, and having a side loading cargo door, a rectangular turntable is installed near the door. The turntable and its pivot are so located that (1) the turntable extends through the door when it is crosswise to the fuselaage and is totally enclosed in the airplane when it is aligned with the fuselage and (2) vehicles longer than the width of the door or width of airplane can be accommodated.
Abstract: The load carrying vehicle includes a vehicle framework supported by road wheels, and railroad wheels are mounted on the framework and are movable up and down with respect to the framework for engaging the rails of a railroad track for supporting the vehicle from a railroad track. A load support framework is rotatably mounted on the vehicle framework about an upwardly extending axis, and a dump body is pivotally mounted on the load support framework about a horizontal axis, so that the dump body can be rotated and tilted with respect to the vehicle framework to dump its load at various positions about the vehicle.
Abstract: A car for carrying large vessels, such as a tundish used in continuous casting, wherein the vessel is raised and lowered while supported on the car, and also can tilt to dump its contents. The car includes a vessel-supporting cradle which tilts from an upright position about an off-center axis located near the bottom and adjacent the side toward which the cradle tilts. Thus the contents of the vessel can be dumped without shifting the car from the position it occupies for teeming metal from a tundish into a mold. Jack screws, which raise and lower the vessel and support the weight, are stressed in tension.
