  • Patent number: 7694633
Abstract: The invention relates to an anti-climbing device (2) for railway carriages, which is fixed at least at one end of the carriage at a defined height and extends over at least part of the carriage width. To co-operate with the end section of an anti-climbing device of another carriage in the event of a crash, said device is provided with a central cut-out section (5), open on the underside and delimited on the upper side by an interception surface, said section being located beneath a central protruding end section (4), in addition to two centering surfaces (8) that laterally delimit the section (5). An essentially horizontal fixing surface (9) adjoins the lower edge of each centering surface.

  • Patent number: 7089869
Abstract: A flange 52b is provided on a plate by bending the plate, the flange being substantially orthogonal to the plate, and a recessed portion, where the flange is missing, is provided between two flanges. A flange 62c is provided by bending another plate, and a raised portion is provided which protrudes from a parallel side 62b to flange 62c at an end portion of flange 62c. An end portion of flange 52c and end portion of flange 62c are abutted, and end portion of plate 60 is abutted to an outer side of the circular arc portion of flange 52b from the plate. The raised portion is abutted to the recessed portion, and respective abutted portions are welded. Where two plates in which a flange is provided by bending the plate are intended to be welded, the occurrence of a space in a welding portion can be prevented.

  • Patent number: 6886474
Abstract: A front end portion 100 is disposed on the front end of a car body. The floor thereof consists of extruded hollow members 210 that constitute a shock absorber 200. The shock absorber 200 is divided into an upper shock absorber 200 and a lower shock absorber 200. Annealed extruded hollow members are used to form the hollow member 210. The hollow members 210 are disposed so that their direction of extrusion corresponds to the longitudinal direction of the car body. The hollow members 210 are divided longitudinally into two portions by a plate 220. At the width-direction ends of member 210, the face plates 211 and 212 are welded onto plates 223-226. Upon receiving impact load, members 210 fold up into concertinas, absorbing the impact force. Since members 210 are separated by a plate, they deform evenly and continuously into concertinas instead of being bent in half, capable of absorbing a large energy.

  • Patent number: 6263805
Abstract: There is provided a vehicle end sill or the like, in which lap joints formed by one side lap welding are not simply deformed or broken off. An end sill 1 is formed as a box type structural body which includes lap joints W1 which are formed by one side lap welding conducted only from the outer side. Edge portions 12a and 13a of face plates 12, 13 to be superposed on the surfaces 11a and 11b of the end member (intermediate member) 11 are formed as a zigzag shape. The end member has the longitudinal axis substantially perpendicular to the direction along which the load is adapted to be applied to the end sill 1. Lap welding (one side welding conducted only from the outer side) is conducted along the edge portion 12a and 13a of the zigzag shape.

  • Patent number: 4327648
Abstract: A cabin for a funicular railway comprises a floor, two lateral walls facing each other, one of which is provided with a door opening, two end-walls, and a roof. All of these parts are united detachably by means of bolts, so that the cabin may be transported in the knocked-down condition, and may be subsequently assembled by bolting. The side and upper edges of the lateral walls consist of light-metal bars, the ends of which are welded together in pairs. The roof is provided with four bars welded together in pairs and together forming a roof-frame, two of these bars being welded to the bars forming the upper edges of the lateral walls. The end-walls are edged at the bottom and sides with bars which are bolted to the bars of the lateral walls and are riveted to the plates. The upper parts of the end-walls consist of transparent sheets, secured detachably, by means of resilient strips to parts of the end-walls, of the two lateral walls, and of the roof.
