  • Patent number: 10358051
Abstract: A motor drive unit having an inboard brake in which a lateral weight distribution is balanced is provided. In the motor drive unit, output torque of a drive motor is distributed to a right driveshaft and a left driveshaft via a drive gear a drive gear fitted onto an output shaft thereof. A brake rotor is also fitted onto the output shaft to be rotated integrally therewith. A brake device stops rotation of the drive gear by engaging the brake rotor with a brake stator that is allowed to rotate relatively to the brake rotor but restricted to rotate in a rotational direction of the brake rotor. The brake device is disposed on an opposite side of the drive motor across the drive gear.

  • Patent number: 9987933
Abstract: A range-extending, charging, and driving apparatus for an electric vehicle includes a wheel motor and a damping component. The wheel motor is connected to a wheel set of the electric vehicle for driving the wheel set. The wheel motor is further connected to a main battery for charging the main battery when the wheel motor generates electric power reversely. The damping component is connected between the wheel set and the wheel motor for absorbing shocks of the wheel motor or the wheel set.

  • Patent number: 8820248
Abstract: This disclosure is directed to a traction motor drive system. The traction motor drive system may include a field winding subsystem comprising a field winding associated with a traction motor. The traction motor drive system may also include an armature subsystem arranged in parallel with the field winding subsystem. The armature subsystem may include an armature having first and second armature terminals and a grid resistor selectively electrically coupled in series with the armature. The armature subsystem may also include an armature chopper arranged in parallel with the grid resistor and electrically coupled in series with the armature. The armature chopper may be configured, when the grid resistor is electrically coupled to the armature, to conditionally conduct current to the armature.

  • Patent number: 8322660
Abstract: A relay for a toy track set, the relay having, a first actuator in a first plane; a second actuator in a second plane vertically elevated from the first plane; a conduit fluidly coupling the first actuator to the second actuator; and a release mechanism moveably secured to the first actuator for movement between a first position and a second position wherein movement of the release mechanism from the first position towards the second position causes the first actuator to force a fluid through the conduit, wherein the fluid forced through the conduit by the first actuator causes the second actuator to actuate a second release mechanism, wherein the first actuator is coupled to a first vehicle track segment and the second actuator is coupled to a second vehicle track segment.

  • Patent number: 5957058
Abstract: The invention relates to a drive unit for electric rail vehicles, wherein the hub (7) of a greater wheel (6) driven by an electric traction motor (1) via a pinion shaft (4) forms a hollow shaft stub which surrounds the shaft (9) of a wheel set with a defined play. By inserting a coupling (11) which is radially rigid but allows transverse and angular movements, the motor torque is transmitted to one of the wheels (10) of the wheel set. The axial mobility of the coupling (11) should not have any disturbing restoring forces or resilient forces. Therefore, the hub-side coupling half (11b) having a curved-teeth-shaped external toothing engages the wheel-side coupling half (11a) which is provided with a straight internal toothing. The wheel-side coupling half (11a) is detachably connected via coupling supports to the inside flank of a disk wheel (10) and the hub-side coupling half (11b) to the hub.

  • Patent number: 5220847
Abstract: In a drive with twin helical drive gears on an axle driven by a motor with pinions at either end wherein the moto housing and axle housing are axially located by a key in mating keyways, an offset key is used to obtain axial housing adjustment by the amount of the key offset. The pinions are mounted to the motor with their teeth substantially aligned and the gears are mounted to the axle with their teeth substantially aligned, and the housings are axially positioned by an offset key to compensate for errors in tooth alignment to assure that gear backlash is centralized on both ends of the motor when the rotor is substantially centered in its range of end play.
