Bicycle Conversion Patents (Class 105/95)
  • Patent number: 9592838
Abstract: A tandem rider device and method of use for maintaining three planes of stability, elimination of interference and steering is presented. In particular, the present invention relates to devices and mechanisms, which when connected to the three planes of stability, vertical, horizontal and axial, between two duplicate personal transportation devices or between the transportation device and another device including structural stability elements provide for the following three enhancements. Provide tracking wheels, levers, springs and pedals for interference elimination devices allowing removal of tracking wheel interferences when two devices are connected together. Providing steering mechanism used for steering two duplicate personal transportation devices or steering the transportation device and another device when the tandem rider device is placed on a suitable surface other than parallel tracks.

  • Patent number: 7895951
Abstract: Persons on a bicycle or other muscle-powered vehicle, equipped through an attachment means, with a reaction plate secondary of a linear induction motor, LIM, receive intermittent, augmenting propulsion forces from a sequence of spaced LIM primary coil assemblies, positioned flush with a surface on a pathway, to augment the rider's muscle-created propelling forces when the LIM primaries are receiving power supplied by a utility. At each LIM primary, interacting magnetic fields are commonly created as the attached bicycle LIM secondary is moveably positioned by the rider proximately the centerline of a respective LIM primary. The augmenting propelling force results as thrust, derived from the interaction of the respective magnetic fields of the primary and secondary of the now temporarily completed linear induction motor at the respective, spaced locations of the primaries along the pathway.

  • Patent number: 5461984
Abstract: A track traveling system for enabling a two-wheeled vehicle to travel along a single rail of a railroad track has an elongated guide component (18) having vertically spaced apart guidance surfaces (24, 26) and a stabilizer component (20) that has a proximal end (28) releasably couplable to the axle and fork of a bicycle and a distal end (36) that has confronting rollers to movably bear against the vertically spaced apart guidance surfaces (24, 26) whereby the elongated guide component (18) and stabilizer component (20) cooperate to stabilize and guide the two-wheeled vehicle along a single rail of a railroad track.

  • Patent number: 4230046
Abstract: A bicycle having forwardly and rearwardly extendible guide wheels and a pivotably mounted lateral outrigger wheel to allow use of the vehicle as a bicycle on a solid roadway or a velocipede on railroad tracks. The forward and rearward guide wheels adjust laterally to accommodate a wide range of rail sizes and the outrigger wheel adjusts laterally to accommodate normal rail spacings. With the appurtenant wheels folded to an inoperative position, the vehicle may be effectively operated as a normal bicycle.

  • Patent number: 4213397
Abstract: A portable railroad attachment for a motor bicycle comprises a trolley unit for supporting the bicycle and having a pair of track wheels engageable with a first rail of the track and a third wheel engageable with the other rail. The trolley unit is detachably secured to the bicycle frame by a swivel coupling which provides a pivotal support about which the bicycle is pivoted under the weight of a rider to bring the driven wheel of the bicycle into tractional engagement with the first track rail.
