  • Patent number: 10041140
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for continuous thermal treatment of a steel strip. The strip passes through consecutive thermal treatment chambers, is quickly cooled in at least one of the chambers by spraying liquid onto the strip, or by spraying a fluid made up of gas and liquid or spraying a combination of gas and liquid forming a mist. After quick cooling, a protective metal layer is deposited on the strip by dip coating. The cooling fluid strips iron oxides or other alloy elements contained in the steel to be treated, minimizing oxidation and reducing the oxides on the strip. Spray pressure and distance are chosen to facilitate the stripping property and the mechanical action of the sprayed fluid, reducing the layer of oxides on the strip. The temperature of the strip at the end of the cooling step is the temperature necessary for carrying out the desired treatment cycle.

Abstract: The present invention provides a substrate treated with an linked enzyme. It has been discovered that a substrate treated with a linked enzyme can be effective in improving the ability of the substrate to absorb viscoelastic materials, such as menses, by cleaving a protein structure present in some viscoelastic materials. In addition, the linked enzyme is less likely to migrate from the treated material onto the user, as compare to an enzyme being placed directly on the substrate, thereby reducing the risk of sensitization to the user of the absorbent product. Also provided by the present invention are absorbent articles which contain at least one surface or layer containing the linked enzyme.

  • Patent number: 7833332
Abstract: An aqueous metal treatment composition designed to improve adhesion and corrosion resistance of the metal surface includes an organofunctional silane in combination with a fluorozirconic or fluorotitanic acid, methanesulfonic acid and nitric acid. The methanesulfonic acid acts to reduce sludge formation. Preferably, the composition also includes a fluorosilicic acid which likewise reduces sludge and improves corrosion resistance.

  • Patent number: 7625439
Abstract: The ferrous metal chemical conversion coating is comprised of mixed oxides and organometallic compounds of aluminum and iron. A ferrous metal substrate is immersed for a period of time in a bath composition, at a temperature, at a pH, and at a concentration for each constituent of the bath composition, that will form a coating with the desired characteristics. The bath composition comprises water, aluminum salt, oxalic acid, and an oxidizer. The conversion coating is amorphous in nature and can be formed as thin as 1 micron with a coating weight in the range of about 40-250 milligrams per square foot. When sealed with an appropriate rust preventive material, the coating enhances corrosion resistance of the ferrous metal substrate. It is an effective absorbent base for paint finishes. When top coated with a lubricant, the conversion coating aids (a) assembly of parts, (b) break-in of sliding surfaces, and (c) anti-galling.
