Abstract: A desk and spaced panels at the edge of the desk forming a half-wall are combined to make the space within the wall available for the storage of wires and equipment associated with devices in use on or adjacent the desk. The half-wall extends above the desk top, and has a slot traversed by the wires leading out to the devices. Brackets that also traverse the slot can be used to support the devices well above the desk surface. The inner panels forming the half-wall are adapted to support shelves under the desk. The brackets also can be mounted in a desk wherein the spaced panels at the surface of the desk, with the slot being formed in a horizontal surface in the desk. The brackets have adjustable support feet and can have cylindrical accessory supports.

Abstract: In a movement guiding device, two parallel stationary guides are fixed to a surface plate and plural hydrostatic gas or bearing members are provided for the surface plate and the stationary guides. A Y stage is moved in a Y-axis direction under the influence of these bearing members. Additional hydrostatic gas or air bearing members are provided in relation to the surface plate and the Y stage so as to support an X stage for movement in an X-axis direction orthogonal to the Y-axis direction. Guide of the Y stage in the X-axis direction is made by the stationary guides on the surface plate, while guide thereof in a Z-axis direction perpendicular to an X-Y plane is made by the surface plate. Guide of the X stage in the Y-axis direction is made by the Y stage, while the guide thereof in the Z-axis direction is made by the surface plate, similar to the Y stage. With such structure, any vibration, rolling, or otherwise, of the Y stage is not transmitted to the X stage. Thus, high-precision guide is attainable.

  • Patent number: 4913387
Abstract: A computer input device removably mounted to a keyboard is disclosed. A bar, which may be slightly longer than the width of the keyboard, is slidably mounted beneath the keyboard. The bar is slidable from a first position in which one end of the bar extends beyond the side of the keyboard to a second position in which the other end of the bar extends beyond the other side of the keyboard. An input device, such as a trackball, is removably attached, for example, by hook and loop fasteners, to the end of the bar which extends beyond the side of the keyboard. To move the device to the other side of the keyboard, the device is lifted off the end of the bar, the bar is slid under the keyboard until the other end extends beyond the other side of the keyboard, and the device is attached on the other end of the bar. The removable mount of the present invention thus accommodates left and right side mounting, eases the switching from side to side, and takes up minimum space.

A wire shelf is formed of inhingedly connected sections with their outermost and innermost ends connected to sheet metal side supports. The side supports are also constructed in sections which are telescopically mounted so that the side supports may be pulled out or pushed in causing the sections of the wire shelving to lie flat or hinge up to provide different depths of shelf. An upstanding member contacts product on the shelf to pull the product forward when the shelf is pulled out, thus allowing restocking of fresh product at the rear of the shelf.

Abstract: A mechanism is disclosed for use in supporting a keyboard in a desired adjustable position relative to a CRT unit at a work station. The mechanism is adapted for attachment to the downwardly facing surface of a suitable horizontal support arranged at various levels or distances from a floor; and is characterized as being capable of mounting a keyboard for horizontally directed movements between storage or retracted and use or extended positions and for vertically directed movements into maximum upper and lower use positions in opposite directions from an intermediate or reference position normally assumed by the keyboard when in its storage position, wherein means are provided to automatically move the keyboard from its upper position into its intermediate position incident to movement of the keyboard horizontally towards its storage position.

Abstract: An office furniture desk arrangement for providing a CRT work station, in which the desk includes a desk top that along the front of the desk defines a broad and flat work surfacing that extends between the sides of the desk under which a computer keyboard may be retractably mounted, and that along the back of the desk extends a relatively narrow trackway that also extends essentially between the sides of the desk, the upper surfacing of which is in substantial coplanar relation with the desk work surfacing. Underlying the desk top trackway is an easily excessed horizontal trough for concealing electrical wiring, with the trackway shiftably mounting a carriage for movement therealong that includes a rear casing that is roller equipped for riding along the trackway cantilever mounted fashion, and a front casing that is disposed over the desk top work surfacing and is connected to the rear casing for hand adjustment movement by the desk user toward and away from the desk user at the front of the desk.

Abstract: An electrical discharge machining apparatus having an improved bed which provides improved control over the gap between a machining head and a workpiece by reducing the amount of deformation produced in the bed when the table and saddle are moved. The bed is constituted by an upper plate and side plates, with saddle guide rails being disposed on the upper plate, a saddle movably mounted on the saddle guide rails, table guide rails mounted on the saddle, and a workpiece-supporting table movably mounted on the saddle guide rails. In accordance with one embodiment of the invention, the saddle guide rails are positioned at the edges of the upper plate, directly above the side plates of the bed. In another embodiment, reinforcing members are provided under the upper plate, extending parallel to and directly under respective ones of guide rails.

Abstract: An extendible merchandise shelving display embodies an elongated, stationary shelf support which extends laterally from and is connected to at least one vertical support. An elongated, movable shelf support extends alongside and is slidably connected to the stationary shelf support. The movable shelf support is adapted for sliding movement relative to the stationary shelf support selectively to an extended position spaced from the vertical support and to a retracted position adjacent the vertical support. Cooperating locking members are carried by the movable and stationary shelf supports in position to engage each other and limit sliding movement of the movable shelf support while in its extended and retracted positions.

  • Patent number: 4615568
Abstract: The disclosed guide device utilizes no rigidly mounted external guide elements. However, a guide element freely slidable on an air cushion on a flat base can be lowered from the interior of a slide element (by removal of the air cushion) onto the base. Once the guide element has been lowered, it is fixed by subpressure onto the base and takes over the function of a rigidly mounted guide. The guide element, which was previously freely slidable on the base, is now exactly positionable along the guide of the guided element. If the displacement path is to be increased, then the slide piece element is fixed by subpressure on the base, the guide element is again acted upon with compressed air and driven within the slide piece in a displacement direction and at the end of the interior space is again fixed to the base. Now the slide piece is again released and can on its air cushion be further positioned exactly in the displacement direction. This stepwise movement is limited only by the size of the base.

The guide rails are attachable to the base of a radial arm power saw, and the ends of the guide rails are supported on adjustable height legs. Work pieces are positioned against the fence pins and tightly clamped to the table top. An operator feeds work to a saw by pushing or pulling on handles that are attached to the table top.
