Synthetic Plastic Industrial Platform (e.g., Pallet, Etc.) Patents (Class 108/901)
  • Patent number: 5505141
Abstract: A plastic pallet is formed of two identical interlocking and mating components joined along a common center plane. At least one internal component is stepped, with the steps of two components fitting together to interlock the two components together when they are assembled. The two components include integrally formed plural spaced apart deck boards, tiedown passages, and fork lift slots or passages in each of the four sides of the rectangular assembly. A generally rectangular peripheral structure and a cruciform central structure are provided for additional reinforcement. The two halves are bolted together for use, with an assembled pallet being easily disassembled to remove a damaged component for replacement. As the two components comprising the present pallet are identical, they may be cast or formed in a single mold, or in identical molds, with any half pallet component serving as a replacement.

Abstract: This invention relates generally to foil laminated tabletops and to methods for their manufacture. Tabletops according to the present invention can be laminated over their entire upper and side surfaces with a continuous sheet of thin foil, the foil typically comprising a plastic material. The foil layer ends at an angular lower edge where the side surface intersects the lower surface of the tabletop. By providing an angle preferably greater than about 120.degree. about the lower edge, the lower edge of the tabletop preferably does not feel sharp and the edge of the foil is at least partially hidden from view. The present invention also provides foil laminated tabletops having an upper surface provided with functional retaining recesses for retaining items on the tabletop.

  • Patent number: 5123359
Abstract: A durable heavy duty pallet having a flat load deck is made by placing a pre-cut plastic sheet under the load-bearing surface of an invented frame or skeleton. A second plastic sheet is thermoformed over the lower surface of the skeleton, brought down into tight conformity with the contours thereof and into contact with the first plastic sheet. The perimeters of the plastic sheets are bonded together to form an integral plastic skin over the skeleton. The pallet thus formed is capable of bearing a static load up to 40,000 lbs.

  • Patent number: 5117762
Abstract: A plastic pallet in which a plurality of beam assemblies are positioned beneath the plastic main body of the pallet to discourage warpage and failure of the pallet, especially in racked, loaded storage situations. The plastic structure of the pallet includes a planar platform section defining an upwardly facing load receiving surface and a plurality of legs extending downwardly from the platform section to define tunnels therebetween for receipt of the forks of a forklift truck. The beam structures extend in parallel fashion beneath the plastic structure. Each beam structure includes a central upstanding spine portion received in downwardly opening grooves defined in the bottoms of aligned legs, and a base portion which extends beneath the bottoms of the legs to provide a base on which each pallet may rest.

  • Patent number: 5101964
Abstract: A transportation pallet system for mounting, transporting, and handling a workpiece, such as a prefabricated automobile seat, which facilitates the installation of the workpiece into a final product where the final installation process is accomplished by a computer-controlled robotic device. A base pallet formed by injection molding plastic has a honeycombed configuration of supporting ribs and supporting brackets. An intermediary footplate also formed by injection molding plastic secures the workpiece to the base pallet. Mounting holes located at the intersections of the honeycombed ribs secure the intermediate footplate to the base pallet at a precise location relative to a pair of precisely sized and precisely located datum holes, also within the base pallet. The datum holes allow the computer-controlled robotic device to locate the base pallet and the mounted workpiece with precision.

  • Patent number: 5101643
Abstract: A method and system for conditioning the cargo containing space of a vehicle are disclosed wherein refrigerated or heated air is introduced into a supply duct and circulated through the cargo to a return duct. The return duct or ducts are preferably formed by movable reefer pallets or racks, controlled openings in the pallets regulating flow into the return duct to develop a uniform pressure differential between the cargo space and the return duct and achieve more uniform cooling. Heat barrier spacers are arranged on vertical walls to minimize heat passage to the cargo. A method and system are also disclosed for supplying refrigerated gas through a supply duct and returning it through a return duct, a control unit being normally responsive to a master temperature sensor arranged in an inlet, a sub-master temperature sensor being arranged for sensing freezing or chilling conditions and overriding the master temperature sensor.

  • Patent number: 5096112
Abstract: A wood reinforced corrugated paperboard shipping container with interlocking pallet to direct positioning of the container on the pallet and to interlock the container with the pallet. The pallet includes longitudinal runners and cross members. At least one cross member overhangs the side of a lower runner. The overhang portion of the cross member and the side of the runner together define a recess which receives an attaching strip that is connected to a lowermost portion of the wall of the container. In placing the container on the pallet, a beveled upper surface on the overhang portion of the cross member bears against the bottom surface of the attaching strip. The attaching strip thereby moves downwardly and out to move around the outside end of the overhang portion of the cross member and the back into the recess, thereby matingly interlocking the container to the pallet.
