  • Publication number: 20120216727
Abstract: An attractive, light, portable, stand-up box that is scratch resistant, fireproof and water-tight. It adapts plastic material for casing combined with a metallic hinge. It includes a coded lock that is complemented by a deadlock position for additional safety. Its surface has a sawtooth structure that acts as a rib for strength and resists scratching as well as providing an esthetic look. An extra bar or other feature can keep the lid leveled at around 110 degrees when open, while two extra large feet enable the box to stand vertically open or closed. A waterproof seal resides in a groove around the lid to prevent water penetration (for example in a fire). An alkaline cement with embedded air bubbles injected into the walls provides fireproofing without adding too much weight.

  • Patent number: 7134243
Abstract: There is described a profiled sash section for a window sash holding a window pane and intended for being installed in an outer frame of a blast resistant window. The sash section includes a main member enabling inter-engagement between the profiled sash member and the outer frame a window pane holding member for accommodating and securing an end portion of said window pane in the profiled sash member, and a reinforcing member designed to support the end portion of the window pane and to transmit blast pressure, if incidentally applied to the window pane, to the main member. For at least partially absorbing blast pressure energy applied to the window pane, the sash section is provided with damping means for deforming up to predetermined limit. Also described is a blast-resistant framework for a casement window, including the window sash assembled from the mentioned profiled sash sections and adapted for rigidly and air-tightly securing the window pane in the holders of the profiled sash members.

  • Patent number: 5249534
Abstract: A cover for use with a container (1) comprises one or more layers (11, 12, 15) of high tensile strength, high stretch resistance flexible material which are capable of resisting penetration by bomb blast and fragmentation and which are adapted so that the cover can expand and absorb and/or channel the blast from within the container (1). For this purpose, the layers of flexible material are interconnected by hook-and-eye type fabric fasteners, which can give or release under load to allow controlled expansion of the cover in the event of an explosion. The container may be the type used to carry cargo or luggage on an aircraft and placing the cover (11, 12, 15) about the container a bomb secreted in the luggage or cargo will be prevented from destroying the aircraft.
