  • Patent number: 10356975
Abstract: A method and apparatus for minimizing the volume of a liquid carrier used for delivering an agricultural product into a furrow during planting. The apparatus includes a seed tube assembly for dispensing seed. A seed firmer assembly is operatively connected to the seed tube assembly. A seed firmer application tube assembly is mounted to the seed firmer assembly. The seed firmer application tube assembly has an outlet end for dispensing a carrier containing an agricultural product. A seed firmer brush is mounted to the outlet end of the seed firmer application tube assembly. The seed firmer brush is configured to contact the carrier containing the agricultural product during the dispensing thereof and brushing the carrier containing the agricultural product onto the seed being dispensed from the seed tube assembly.

  • Publication number: 20100300337
Abstract: In an air seeder assembly having a base mount member with a at least one base ear with a base bore, and a seed boot with at least one boot ear with a boot bore, a fastening assembly mounting the seed boot to the base mount member is disclosed. The fastening assembly comprises a fastener structure fastening the seed boot to the base mount member by extending through the base bore and the boot bore. The fastening assembly includes a fastener interface device inserted into at least one of the bores. The interface device comprises a substantially tubular insertion portion inserted into the at least one bore and a flange portion connected to the insertion portion, and extends radially outwardly from the insertion portion.

  • Publication number: 20080229986
Abstract: A disc furrow opener and method for single pass placement of seed and fertilizer in agricultural planting uses a scraper to both scrape the disc and form a seed shelf in the furrow formed thereby and delivers seed onto the seed shelf and fertilizer into a bottom portion of the open furrow formed by the disc below the seed shelf. Placement of seed and fertilizer is achievable in a single pass over the area to be seeded without need for a second opening implement rearward of the disc and without being limited to the use of liquid fertilizer.

  • Patent number: 4624195
Abstract: A gravity spreader includes a hopper having openings in its bottom through which material flows when a shutter is not in a closed position with the position of the shutter determining the rate of flow of material. A fluted roller allows the material to flow from the hopper to the ground only when the hopper is moving in a forward direction. The fluted roller does not rotate when the hopper is stopped or when the hopper moves in a reverse direction so that the material does not flow to the ground irrespective of the open position of the shutter.

  • Patent number: 4338871
Abstract: A rotary harrow or cultivator has a frame that supports a plurality of soil working members arranged in a row that extends transverse to the direction of travel. The frame includes two linked portions and one portion is connected to a rear support roller that regulates the working depth of the implement. A dispensing mechanism, including a plurality of delivery members, is mounted on the implement and the delivery members are carried on a common support that extends transverse to the direction of travel. The common support is interconnected to the roller so that material is dropped as the roller levels the worked soil.

  • Patent number: 4244307
Abstract: A soil working machine has an elongated frame portion that supports a row of soil working tools that extends transverse to the direction of travel. The machine is partly supported by rear wheels that are located adjacent the lateral sides of the machine and arms connect the wheels to an upper part of the machine. A delivery mechanism, including an elongated hopper is mounted on the implement and delivery tubes extend from the hopper to the ground, between the wheels and the soil working tools. The hopper is positioned above the frame portion and a rotatable member in the hopper is drivenly connected to the wheels.

  • Patent number: 3995569
Abstract: A lawn treating machine consisting of a wheeled front section and a wheeled rear section hinged together by a hydraulically operated vertical hinge mechanism for steering the machine. The front section includes a hydraulically driven scattering mechanism provided at the lower outlets of a multiple-compartment hopper assembly. The scattering mechanism includes a rotating horizontal scattering disc and rotating agitating and feeding elements which feed material from the hopper compartments to the disc. The rear section carries an engine-driven hydraulic pump supplying pressure hydraulic fluid to respective hydraulic motors driving the wheels of the front section. The rear section also carries a pivotally mounted transversely extending ground-scarifying blade assembly having a plurality of sod-piercing blades, the assembly being raised and lowered by hydraulic link means.
