  • Publication number: 20150128836
Abstract: A device for producing a composite sandwich structure (1), wherein the sandwich structure comprises at least a first and second face sheets (2, 3) of a fibrous reinforcing material sandwiching between them a sheet of a core material (4), the device comprising a connecting fibre inserting apparatus for connecting the first face sheet (1), the core material (4) and the second face sheet (3) by means of connecting fibres (6). The connecting fibre inserting device comprises at least one needle bar extending transversally in the moving direction of the sandwich structure (1) and provided to exert a reciprocating movement in height direction of the sandwich structure (1). The needle bar comprises a plurality of spaced apart needles (11), arranged to face the first face sheet (2), and provided to take along a length of connecting fibre yarn (6) when reciprocating in and out of the sandwich structure (1) thereby forming a loop at the lower surface of the second face sheet (3).

  • Publication number: 20090199752
Abstract: A multi-needle chain-stitch quilting machine and method of operation thereof are provided that imparts relative motion between the needles and the material that is controlled so as to pull needle thread tails from the needle side of the quilted material. The feature of controlling thread tails may be optional to provide selection of either a high speed mode of operation without thread tail control or a quality mode of operation with reduction or removal of needle thread tails from the face of the quilted material. Thread trimmers may be included at each needle location on the looper side of the material to cut both needle and looper threads.

  • Patent number: 6467418
Abstract: A tandem sewing machine and the stitch it forms. The sewing machine includes a stand frame; a drive motor, a throatplate; and at least two offset needles. The offset needles have a needle stagger (&sgr;) which, in combination with the needle spacing (D) produces a stitch stagger to displacement ratio (S/D) of greater than about 1 of the improved stitch. The sewing machine may also include an overedge stitching needle assembly and a compound feed assembly. In the preferred embodiment, the compound feed assembly includes a bottom feed dog and a top feed dog, wherein the top feed dog is a differential feed with respect to the bottom feed dog. The sewing machine may further include a second bottom feed dog which may also be a differential feed. In the preferred embodiment, the overedge stitching needle assembly includes at least one needle performing an overedge stitch.

  • Patent number: 4513673
Abstract: A device for interrupting the formation of stitches in a sewing machine having at least two needles and a looper for each needle which are arranged to be actuated in tandem. The needles are phased to perform their functions simultaneously with a first having an elongated thread opening, and the second a conventional opening. The first needles' looper is slightly elevated and if no lack of phasing exists between the needles and their loopers, the elevated looper will cooperate with its needle adjacent the upper end of the thread hole and the other looper cooperates with its needle in a conventional manner. Should there be a lack of phasing, the elevated looper cooperates with its needle midway between the length of the thread hole which causes the other looper to pass beneath the hole of its needle thus interrupting the formation of stitches by the latter needle.

  • Patent number: 4241677
Abstract: The invention provides a twin-needle sewing machine for stagger sewing, wherein a needle bar is angularly adjustable transversely to its longitudinal axis and is so guided as to be longitudinally displaceable in an angularly adjustable holder. Herewith, two needles may be placed in a plane extendable parallel to the obliquely extending edge of the material part to be sewn on. With the obliquely cut-up material part fed with the material part to be sewn on, at the start of the sewing, both needles will penetrate simultaneously into the material part to be sewn on. Even in the case of obliquely running-on or feeding material pieces, sewing can be effected in a locking manner.

  • Patent number: 4152996
Abstract: Trouser-fly pieces are sewn to a continuous slide fastener chain and at the same time are surged along a curved edge. Variable spacing between the surged curved edge and the line or lines of stitches sewing the fly pieces to the fastener chain is made by selective puckering of each fly piece between two sewing mechanisms. The trailing end of each fly piece is lifted during the sewing to permit the positioning of the next fly piece against a stop.
