  • Patent number: 9273423
Abstract: A thread routing mechanism for needle-switchable type sewing machine is installed on a needle bar switching mechanism of the sewing machine, and includes a thread take-up lever, a cylindrical needle bar case and a plurality of threads. The thread take-up lever includes a sway control end and a thread take-up end having thread holes. The cylindrical needle bar case has a rotation axis and a plurality of spaced needle bar holes, and internally defines a hollow space. The needle bar holes are equally distant from the rotation axis, and each receives a needle bar therein. The needle bars respectively carry a needle having an eye formed thereon. The threads are separately routed through a thread course defined by the thread holes, the hollow space and the needle eyes, such that the length of the threads in the thread course maintains same without being affected by a needle bar switching operation.

  • Patent number: 7841283
Abstract: In the disclosed sewing machine, when a needle threading switch is operated when sewing operation is stopped, a needle bar drive mechanism is activated, a needle threading hook is moved forward to a threading position, and a thread take-up is lowered by predetermined distance by driving a sewing machine motor in reverse rotation after threading a hook portion with a needle thread. Thus, a thread engaging portion of a check spring absorbs loss of required thread amount at the thread take-up and moves from a spring force operable position to a spring force inoperable position. Thus, the needle threading hook retracts to a loop cancel position and the needle thread reliably threads the sewing needle with secure engagement with the needle threading hook when a needle thread end is pulled off from a first thread retaining portion since needle thread is stabilized by absence of needle thread tension.

Abstract: The present invention provides a sewing mechanism which is useful for joining fabrics with a brittle thread. The invention provides a sewing mechanism having a needle for stitching a brittle fiber thread through at least one layer of a fibrous fabric, the mechanisms for supplying the sewing thread to the needle on each edge thereof while the needle penetrates the layer or layers of fibrous fabric, thread supply being controlled to equalize the supply on both sides of the needle to prevent axial movement of the thread relative to the needle while the needle moves downwards. The mechanism further supports a revolving spool of a second thread and arranged to insert the second thread through a loop formed by the sewing thread at the remote side of the layer of fibrous fabric.

Abstract: Support section for contacting and movably supporting a string-shaped material is provided between a material holder and a guide member, and it supports the material, paid out from the holder, in a slackened condition while it applies a tensile force, corresponding to a state of the contact, to a portion of the material to be directed to the guide member. The consumed amount and the paid-out amount of the material can be controlled to agree with each other, which can prevent any excessive tensile force from being applied to the portion to be supplied to a sewing position and which can reduce the tensile force acting on the material and yet keep the tensile force generally constant. As a result, the string-shaped material can be sewn accurately in an aesthetically pleasing manner.

  • Patent number: 7461605
Abstract: A sewing machine having a reciprocatory needle and a reciprocatory thread-take-up device to deliver thread to the needle employs a thread control device located between the thread take-up device and the needle to engage and apply light tension to the thread. The thread control device can have an opposed plate and spring wire between which the thread runs and which cooperate to apply spring pressure to the thread. Downstream thereof a thread brush can be employed through which the thread runs. The thread can be further lightly tensioned and laterally positioned by the thread brush. The guide plate or other device can include catcher structure to catch thread escaping the take-up device. The thread control device can help control premature descent of the thread and improperly tensioned stitches.

Abstract: The present invention relates to thread storage and dispensing systems which protect the thread from damage. A spool system of the present invention includes a thread spool around which thread is wound. A spool cap is mounted to the thread spool in a manner which substantially encloses the thread. The spool cap may include an opening through which the thread is extended as it is fed into a sewing machine. The spool cap may be selectively and removably mounted to the thread spool in any of a variety of manners. For instance, detents may be provided on the cap to engage a corresponding groove in the thread spool. Optionally, a stopper is provided which may be inserted into the opening through which the thread is fed into a sewing machine. The stopper may frictionally engage the cap and thread, and secure the thread to prevent it from unraveling.

Abstract: Sewing machine includes a tension detection section (26) for detecting tension acting on a sewn material (A) paid out from a rotary holder member, and a drive section for driving the rotary holder member, and the driving operation of the drive section (14) is controlled on the basis of the detection by the tension detection section. Once the tension acting on the sewn material has increased, the rotary holder member is driven to rotate by the drive section, so that the sewn material can be paid out smoothly from the rotary holder member. The sewing machine is particularly useful in a case where the rotary holder member is constructed into an increased size so that an increased amount of the sewn material can be wound thereon.

  • Patent number: 7219611
Abstract: A bent embroidery thread guide wire is attached to a base mount releasably attachable to a spool pin rod of an embroidery and sewing machine. An open spiral bent loop end of the upwardly bent wire adjusts to a position spaced slightly apart from and approximately centered on an embroidery thread spool mounted on the machine. The embroidery thread feeds from the spool through the open looped end, through the normal threading procedure of the machine, to the thread consuming needle apparatus under tension. A transverse bar extending from the base mount allows the guide wire to slide adjustably thereon to move toward or away from the spool. A stepped base mount receives embroidery thread spools of different diameters.
