Plural Loop Catchers Having Different Shapes Or Orientations Patents (Class 112/80.52)
  • Patent number: 11686027
Abstract: A shiftable backing feed is utilized with a tufting machine having reciprocating needles and gauge parts for seizing yarns at a plurality of fixed heights, wherein fabric support apparatus reciprocates in synchronization with the cycles of the needle bar to support the backing during penetration of the backing fabric yet allow backing shifts between stitches.

  • Patent number: 11613835
Abstract: A hook (5) for a tufting machine to provide an enhanced J-cut effect. The hook comprises a shank portion (12) via which the hook is connected to the tufting machine, in use, and a working portion (4) extending from the shank portion. The working portion (4) comprises a cutting edge (6) on one side of a lower face of the working portion. A J-cut forming portion is formed at the working portion (4), in that the working portion in the region above the cutting edge has a greater thickness than the thickness of the shank portion (12).

  • Patent number: 11041265
Abstract: A level cut loop looper or hook and clip assembly for a tufting machine includes at least one module carrying a series of level cut loop loopers or hooks. Each level cut loop looper or hook generally can include a looper body along which a clip is slidably moved. Each clip will be moved between retracted and extended positions as the level cut loop loopers or hooks are reciprocated toward and away from engagement with their associated needles of the tufting machine. Actuators can be engaged to secure the clips in their extended positions as needed to selectively form cut and loop pile tufts in a backing material.

  • Patent number: 10626551
Abstract: A system and method for forming patterned tufted fabrics such as carpets, including the formation of patterns having cut pile and loop pile tufts therein. The system includes a pair of needle bars each carrying a series of needles to which a plurality of yarns are fed. Cut pile hooks are arranged along a cut pile side of a tufting zone, in a position to engage the needles of one of the needle bars, while loop pile loopers are arranged along the opposite loop pile side of the tufting zone, in a position to engage the needles of the other one of the needle bars. A backing material is fed through the tufting zone, and as loop pile tufts of yarns are formed in the backing material, the needles mounted along a needle bar extending along the cut pile side of the tufting zone can be shifted to an off-gauge position, with the yarn feed to these needles further being controlled, to substantially prevent engagement and pick-up of the yarns carried by such needles by the cut pile hooks.

  • Patent number: 10233578
Abstract: A tufting machine for selectively forming tufts of yarns, including different color or type yarns, for forming patterned tufted articles such as carpets. A series of needles are reciprocated into and out of a backing material being fed through the tufting machine and are engaged by a series of gauge parts so as to pick-up loops of yarns from the needles. The gauge parts will be selectively controlled by activators to extend or retract the gauge parts to positions or elevations sufficient to pick-up or not pick-up loops of yarns from the needles. The feeding of the yarns to the needles further will be controlled to back-rob yarns not picked-up by the gauge parts, while the backing feed will be controlled to enable formation of tufts at an increased rate over the pattern stitch rate for the pattern of the tufted article being formed.

  • Patent number: 9139943
Abstract: Implementation disclosed herein describe a drive link systems for use in a tufting machine. The drive link systems include a goose-neck, a rocker arm, and three drive links that impart increased rigidity to the connection between the goose-neck and the rocker arm. The drive link systems are provided without a lubrication system. The rocker arm and the drive links are formed of light-weight material.
