Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a composite panel having a sandwich structure formed by a central core having a primary cellular structure, for example, of the honeycomb type, sandwiched between two skins. The primary cellular structure includes an array of main cells. The composite panel further includes a plurality of pins, each pin being, on the one hand, arranged to be housed and to cooperate inside a main cell and, on the other hand, formed of a secondary cellular structure having an array of secondary cells.

Abstract: A shock attenuation device is used to reduce the effect of a blast shock by both disrupting the propagation of the shock and by spreading, deflecting, and/or redirecting the shock. The device includes multiple layers of different materials, having different shock transmission impedances, stacked in a direction in which the blast shock travels through the device. At least one of the layers includes a material that crumples in response to the shock, undergoing an inelastic deformation in response to the shock. Also, at least one of the layers includes a material that has a directional shock transmission impedance that provides different shock transmission impedance within different directions within the material. The directional shock transmission material may be oriented such that the preferred direction of shock transmission within the material is oriented away from the direction of in which the multiple layers of material are stacked.

Abstract: Provided is a defense structure for national defense including: a hollow structure which extends from the ground or from underground so as to protect the interior of the defense structure from the concussive or explosive forces of shells or rockets, and which has a plurality of cells which are hollow and are partitioned by cell walls, wherein the plurality of cells are arranged in a set, three-dimensional pattern; and a cladding for surrounding the outside of the hollow structure; and a filler that is selectively filled in hollow portions of the cells.

Abstract: A watercraft includes a support structure and a protected space, object or the like within an outer shell of the support structure. To protect the space, object, or the like, for example, a sensitive subassembly in the watercraft, against threats posed by shaped charges, a protective device is positioned between the outer shell and the sensitive subassembly. The protective device includes a multitude of reactive protective elements arranged in a flexible support construction oriented at an angle to the direction of threat. And the support construction is connected, such as, with positive locking and/or friction locking and/or with substance-to-substance bond, to the support structure of the watercraft.

Abstract: The invention relates to marine vessels equipped with collision guards made in the form of a fender module secured to the exterior surface of the hull and supported thereby. The module, which can be one or more in number, is filled with lightweight buoyant material and protects the hull proper from collision damage, or it can be made in the form of a hollow shell divided into a plurality of watertight compartments.
