Patent number: 8985044Abstract: A watertight door system that provides for subdivision of cargo holds, and having a door frame assembly with a sliding door. Conveyor support stringers are movably connected to the sliding door and conveyor idlers are movably connected to and the conveyor support stringers. A linear actuator associated with the door frame assembly selectively actuates the door between an open and closed position, whereby actuation of the door by the hydraulic cylinder causes the conveyor support stringers to move with the door, and the conveyor idlers to be lowered without removal thereof. Belt side plugs are positioned on either side of the door frame assembly, and can move both inwardly against a conveyor belt edge and outwardly from the conveyor belt edge.Type: GrantFiled: July 5, 2012Date of Patent: March 24, 2015Assignee: EMS-Tech Inc.Inventors: John Elder, David Monk, John Storring, Scott Leigh, Doug Smith

Patent number: 7523586Abstract: A security door closure system for cruise ships and other similar public entrance points to prevent terrorist attack or ship take-over is needed. Cruise ship passenger and ship provisioning entrance gangplanks pass through large hydraulically operated shell doors. The gangplank must be removed to close the shell door. The quick close security door system (Door-Gate) is a portable bullet resistant rapid close door system that is placed in conjunction with the gangplank or other entry system, which when closed prevents forced entry. A single lever either remotely or manually operated immediately closes the doors, which then cannot be forced opened from the entrance side.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 2008Date of Patent: April 28, 2009Assignee: Doorgate Industries, Inc.Inventors: Stanley Secretan, Earl T. Bayless

Patent number: 5701943Abstract: Metal matrix composite is made by blending non-metal reinforcement powder with powder of metal or metal alloy matrix material, heating to a temperature high enough to cause melting of the matrix metal/alloy and subjecting the mixture to high pressure in a die press before solidification occurs.Type: GrantFiled: January 19, 1996Date of Patent: December 30, 1997Assignee: AEA Technology PLCInventor: Robin Michael Kurt Young

Patent number: 5105755Abstract: A boat including a deck equipped with peripherally upwardly projecting components surrounding a passenger area is provided including passageways from the passenger area between adjacent components leading to the deck periphery. Openable and closable gates are provided to control passenger movement through the passageways and the boat includes a marine propulsion system including an electrical control circuit therefore equipped with normally opened control switches operatively associated with the gates in a manner closing the switches when the gates are closed, to thereby enable operation of the marine propulsion system only when all gates are closed.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 1990Date of Patent: April 21, 1992Assignee: Mastercrafters CorporationInventor: Samuel L. Patent number: 4577577Abstract: A sliding door arrangement for closing a passage opening in a mainly vertical wall construction and comprising a mainly horizontally movable door unit, a door frame unit attachable to the wall construction, guide and closure devices of said door unit and sealing members of the door and the frame unit. The door unit is moved between two frame members of the frame unit. The door unit comprises a number of door members, of which at least one is movably adjusted in the direction of the passage walk. This movable adjustment allows a shift of the door member against the passage opening, during a final or an initial phase of the door unit motion parallel to the wall construction and guided by the guide devices. The door unit is brought by the shift into a tight contact against sealing members of the frame unit or is disconnected from a contact thereof.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 1984Date of Patent: March 25, 1986Assignee: Oy Wartsila ABInventor: Runar Eriksson
