Patent number: 10019880Abstract: A portable security system comprising a control unit and one or more modular sensors adapted to detect the presence of various alarm conditions within a monitoring location. The control unit is operably connected to the modular sensors via sensor cables, and further comprises a portable housing allowing a user to easily transport and deploy the portable security system within a monitoring location. The control unit further contains an auto-dialer, which transmits an alarm call to an alarm recipient once the system detects the alarm condition. The housing may further have a storage compartment covered by a hingedly attached housing lid which stores the modular sensors when the system is not in use, allowing the user to transport the system in a unitary package.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 2017Date of Patent: July 10, 2018Inventor: Brad Winters

Patent number: 8079322Abstract: A shock tube apparatus may include a plenum to hold a volume of gas. The plenum may include a hollow chamber having a first end and a second end located opposite one another along a longitudinal axis, the first end of the chamber defining a shock egress opening. A valve assembly may be positioned at the first end of the chamber to seal the shock egress opening. A piston may be positioned within a recess located at the second end of the chamber. The piston may separate a first volume located between the piston and the first end of the chamber from a smaller second volume located between the piston and the second end of the chamber. A tension supporting rod may connect the valve assembly to the piston. A release valve may be in fluid connection with the second volume and a switch may be operable to open the release valve to release gas from the second volume and trigger opening of the valve assembly to generate a shock wave through the shock egress opening.Type: GrantFiled: July 17, 2009Date of Patent: December 20, 2011Assignee: AAI CorporationInventor: David A. Patent number: 6385915Abstract: A bird-scaring device for scaring birds without injuring the birds or without using loud noises. The bird-scaring device includes an air dispensing device. An actuator for actuating the air compressor is operationally coupled to the air compressor. A tubular membrane is elongate and has a first end, a second end and peripheral wall extending therebetween. The first end is selectively fluidly coupled to the air dispensing device such that the air dispensing device may inflate the tubular membrane. The peripheral wall of the tubular membrane has a plurality of elongate wires therein. Each of the wires is resiliently flexible. Each of the wires is coiled such that the tubular membrane is in a coiled orientation when it is not inflated. The air compressor forces air into the tubular membrane such that the tubular membrane is selectively inflated into an extended orientation.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 2001Date of Patent: May 14, 2002Inventor: Ted R. Keeler

Patent number: 5196828Abstract: A security dye pack disguised as a bundle of currency for deterring robberies includes a housing formed from a stack of currency bills sewn together and having a hallow chamber formed therein. A substrate disposed within the chamber has a flexible central region through which electrical conductors extend for making electrical interconnections between opposing ends of the substrate. Electrical components are mounted on both sides of the flexible central region to generate an actuating signal upon detecting removal of the security dye pack from the protected premises. Canisters containing dye or other active chemicals are secured at opposing ends of the substrate to emit dyed or other active chemicals in opposing directions when expended. The flexible central region of the substrate allows the security dye pack to be bent into a U-shape. Batteries are arranged in a side-by-side relationship in an elongated narrow case to facilitate bending of the security dye pack.Type: GrantFiled: January 14, 1992Date of Patent: March 23, 1993Assignee: U.S. Currency Protection Corp.Inventor: Scott E. Keniston

Patent number: 4964331Abstract: A mobile, radio-controlled (RC) airplane flies around an airport in a random pattern, as controlled by an operator with a range greater than needed to scare away birds from runways. The RC airplane includes a receiver to control the launching of a special purpose cracker cartridge having a capsule which burns with a faint smoke trail for a predetermined period of time, after which the projected capsule explodes with a brilliant flash, loud noise, and a small cloud of smoke. By this technique, birds are actually chased out of the path of a runway at an airport. Further, this device can be used to scare birds from agricultural areas, as well as in military training exercises to simulate return fire from attacking aircraft or for use as scare shells during military or paramilitary field training. The cannon firing mechanism which launches the exploding capsule is controlled by a manually operated transmitter from the ground.Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 1988Date of Patent: October 23, 1990Inventors: Eyal Halevy, Michael Amir
