  • Patent number: 8847897
Abstract: The touch-operating input device is configured so that when the control circuit turns on the main light source corresponding to each of the translucent operation buttons that can be operated, the control circuit, on condition that the translucent operation button corresponding to the main light source that is turned on is operated, turns off the sub-light source corresponding to the translucent operation button that is turned on simultaneously with the main light source. Ease of operation is increased by enabling the operator to distinguish operated translucent operation buttons from translucent operation buttons that have not been operated according to whether or not the main light sources are lit.

Abstract: An underwater signaling device which has an independent source of pressurized gas can operate regardless of the status of a scuba diver's air source. The underwater signaling device produces a sound signal which may be heard beyond 100 feet, and the present disclosure may operate to depths of up to 250 feet. Further, the present disclosure may be supplemented by light strobe and/or GPS devices, which allow another diver to precisely locate a distressed diver. A diver may activate the present disclosure by depressing a button or by pulling a rip cord or other methods. In one embodiment, the present disclosure allows replacement of the independent source of pressurized gas, making the present disclosure reusable.

  • Patent number: 8669852
Abstract: A reflex speaker which provides an acoustic signal generator for acoustic alarm signals is captured in a housing through which the acoustic signals project via ports at the exit end of the housing. The housing defines a compartment at the exit end with an opening which is covered so that the acoustic signals project out of the exit end around the compartment. The cover may be a transparent cover which provides a lens through which optical signals generated by optics in the compartment provided by either LEDs to provide an optical warning signal, or a video camera, such as a CCD, which responds to visual signals as from hazards at the rear of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 8028696
Abstract: An alarm system and method for use with a breathing apparatus that provides a source of breathable air to a user/diver. A tactile signal is generated in response to a signal representing at least one parameter corresponding to the breathing apparatus status, and the tactile signal can be both felt and heard by the user. The tactile signal may be generated in combination with a visual and/or an additional audible alarm. The tactile signal may be a vibration. The alarm may be worn on the face, either on the mask or on the mouthpiece. The vibrator serves two functions, one as a tactile alarm that the diver can feel during operation, and a second as an auditory alarm through bone-conduction of sound. The tactile alarm indicates to the user/diver that his particular unit is the one transmitting an alarm signal, and cannot be mistaken for any other device.

  • Patent number: 7506989
Abstract: A horn device has a trumpet fixture with one or more internal lights. In one embodiment, the trumpet removably attaches to the valve portion of a canister containing a charge of pressurized gas or air. An actuator button on the top of the trumpet fixture is operable to open the valve assembly of the canister and release the pressurized gas or air through an interior passage of the trumpet fixture, causing a transparent or translucent diaphragm to vibrate, thereby producing a loud horn noise that is directed out of the open bell end of the trumpet. One or more light producing elements, such as electric lamps or LED's, a battery power source and an actuator switch device are housed within a rear chamber of the trumpet fixture. A button on the rear of the trumpet is pushed to control actuation of the light producing elements according to several modes of operation, including flash sequence and steady illumination. The produced light is directed forwardly, out of the open end of the trumpet.

  • Patent number: 4660679
Abstract: A tripod utilized over a manhole or the like to aid in the introduction or removal of a workman or equipment into the hole includes a housing and three legs extending downwardly and outwardly from the housing. An elongated rod extends vertically through the housing and includes a support member in the form of a loop or hook. A fall protection device may be suspended from the support member and includes a cable connected to a harness worn by a workman. In the event of a fall, the weight of the workman pulls the support member and rod downwardly against the force of a spring located within the housing until a limit switch carried by the rod activates an audible and visual alarm. A nut threaded onto the top part of the rod can be moved down against the top of the housing to prevent downward movement of the rod. This allows the tripod to be used to lower heavy equipment without activating the alarm.
