  • Patent number: 7810445
Abstract: A gauge may employ a dial plate, a pointer shaft driven by a motor, a printed circuit board having a plurality of light sources, such as LEDs, and a motor. An upper pointer may be located on a viewed side of the dial plate and a lower pointer may be located on an unviewed side of the dial plate. The upper and lower pointers are attached to the pointer shaft. The lower pointer is positioned to receive light from the light source and direct the light into indicia and graduations of the dial plate, and into the upper pointer. An area surrounding the upper pointer is more brightly lit than other areas of the dial plate. A light-collecting ring may collect light and transmit light into the lower pointer. The ring may be an integral or attached part of the lower pointer or it may be a detached and separate piece.

  • Patent number: 7305932
Abstract: A pointer instrument has two instrument mechanisms arranged independently of one another on a printed circuit board such that the printed circuit board in between the two instrument mechanisms. Each of the instrument mechanisms act on an associated pointer. To minimize the height between the instrument mechanism and the pointer, the printed circuit board is arranged between the two instrument mechanisms and the rotation axes of the two instrument mechanisms are arranged so that they are essentially concentric with respect to one another. The drive to the pointer from the lower one of the instrument mechanisms is provided by a bracket or through the printed circuit board and a hollow shaft for the upper instrument mechanism.

  • Patent number: 6718907
Abstract: A double-sided meter includes a case having two open ends, and a movement mounted in the case for measuring temperature, pressure, humidity, or other measurements. The movement is provided at front and rear surfaces with two sets of dial disc and pointer to enable observation of reading values at either side of the meter. The double-sided meter further includes at least one clip-on index that is so shaped that it has some extent of elasticity for fitly and movably attaching to a peripheral wall of the meter. Pointed free ends of the clip-on index are pointed toward scales on the dial discs at two sides of the meter to indicate a desired range of reading values.

  • Patent number: 6178917
Abstract: A pointer instrument (1) has two pointer flags (3, 4) which can pivot in a common plane about a common axis (2). For this purpose, the pointer flags (3, 4) can each be deflected independently of each other in the region of a separate sector of a circle by a pointer drive (6, 6′), by of a mechanism (5, 5′). By this means, the pointer instrument (1) has a compact overall size and, at the same time, is easy to read.
