Patent number: 11821155Abstract: Vehicle barrier systems that can selectively move a barrier arm between a first position that prevents a vehicle from passing, or a second position that allows the vehicle to pass, wherein the barrier arm moves both upwardly away from a travel path and laterally along the travel path in a direction away from the vehicle. The barrier arm movement thereby leads the driver of the vehicle through the barrier system in a sweeping or leading movement. In some embodiments, an actuator assembly of the barrier system includes a breakaway assembly coupled to the barrier arm. In the event that an abnormal force (e.g. vehicle strike, vandalism, etc.) applied to the barrier arm exceeds a predetermined threshold, one or more drive magnets of the breakaway assembly disengage from the one or more magnetically-attractive elements to prevent damage to the barrier system.Type: GrantFiled: November 17, 2022Date of Patent: November 21, 2023Assignee: Frogparking LimitedInventor: Donald H. Patent number: 11772736Abstract: The embodiments show an efficient, flexible, durable, lightweight and portable (12) electromechanical apparatus (12) that a cyclist can easily and safely operate. The design allows for the remote positioning of a visible elongated object, (12) safety sleeve/arm (12), from a secured vertical stowed position, to a secured horizontal active position without stopping during the ride. The elongated, aerodynamically shaped (12) safety sleeve (12) will have (12) LED strip lights (12) along the trailing edge, along with a (12) wing tip light (12) at the end of the member. Also included are reflective materials at both ends and on the leading edge of the (12) safety sleeve (12). The purpose of a (12) safety sleeve/arm (12) in the active horizontal position is to provide oncoming motorists with a dimensional frame of reference to clear the pedal vehicle when passing.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 2020Date of Patent: October 3, 2023Inventor: Raymond J. Patent number: 6260506Abstract: A bicycle warning device is capable of providing a turning or braking signal and is mounted on the bicycle such that the main body of the warning device faces the front and the rear of the bicycle. The main body is provided with at least two groups of reflector-type display pieces which are of a strip like construction and arranged alternately in rows. The display pieces are provided with symbols capable of forming in combination to indicate the turning direction or the braking action of the bicycle in motion. The display pieces are colored to enhance the warning effect of the device and are capable of being driven by the pull rods to displace up and down. The effects of the left-turn signalling, the right-turn signalling and the braking signalling are attained by the alternate and reciprocating motions of the display pieces.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 1998Date of Patent: July 17, 2001Inventor: Jui-Chan Sung

Patent number: 5589814Abstract: Considering the latest vehicle anti-theft systems and anti-theft warning systems that abound today, the theft of vehicles has not been slowed down to any appreciable amount. In fact, the car theft industry lids virtually kept pace with the car manufacturing industry. This invention has taken a common sense and practical approach to an anti-vehicle theft system that renders the front windshield opaque when the ignition switch is turned on and the vehicle is attempted to be stolen, while the security control switch is placed in the "on" mode. One embodiment was a thermopane type windshield with a space between two plates of unbreakable glass. The space between the two plates of glass has an opaque curtain or blind pulled up inside the void space from the bottom of the windshield to the top of the windshield to render the entire windshield opaque. Another embodiment is to provide several optional features that may be purchased by persons with limited funds although these options are not really required.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 1994Date of Patent: December 31, 1996Inventor: John Smith, Jr.

Patent number: 4645299Abstract: The disclosure relates to a rotary indicating device preferably in use, for example, for wheel covers for motor vehicles. The device includes a base member having an indication region and adapted to be rotated about a rotary axis. The indication region indicates a desired image and comprises a plurality of reflection faces. The reflection faces are inclined in the same direction and also at the same angle with respect to a standard plane perpendicular to a rotary axis of the base member. Thus, when the base member rotates, the observer can visually recognize the image as a clear single image due to the after image phenomenon.Type: GrantFiled: March 5, 1984Date of Patent: February 24, 1987Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Tokai Rika Denki SeisakushoInventors: Takeshi Baba, Hiroki Iwasa, Chikao Nagasaka, Kyozo Ohmi

Patent number: 4426951Abstract: An automotive turn indicator has a turn signal cancellation apparatus mounted on a steering column and wheel assembly. The apparatus comprises a boss cover of a plastic material extending around a steering wheel boss and secured thereto and a turn signal cancellation cam having crests at the opposite ends. The boss cover has cam actuating projections integral therewith and extending from the bottom surface thereof and a reinforcing portion integral with the boss cover and with the cam actuating projections and disposed radially inwardly thereof. The cam actuating projections are movable along a circular path about the axis of the steering shaft when the steering wheel is rotated. The signal cancellation cam is operable by a turn indicator lever so that the crests of the cam are moved into the path of movement of the cam actuating projections whereby the cam can be actuated by engagement of one of the cam actuating projections with one of the crests of the cam.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 1981Date of Patent: January 24, 1984Assignee: Nihon Plast Co., Ltd.Inventor: Kazuyoshi Nishizima
