The interface forces between the needle lubricant and the syringe at the tip of the needle are balanced by optimizing the flow rate of a positively pressurized gas that is delivered to the syringe. Such optimization prevents the formation of bubbles in the needle lubricant that is applied to the syringe, thereby providing a confluent, uniform and smooth lubricant coating on the exterior wall of the needle and prevents lubricant from contaminating inner portions of the syringe. The smooth and uniform lubricant coating may minimize dilation and glide forces and pain associated with the insertion of the needle into a patient's tissue. Additionally, a gas pulse may blows off the droplet of needle lubricant from the tip of the needle to further minimize dilation forces and associated patient pain.

A pair of circular steel wire brushes are mounted on the pipe below the dispensing nozzle center the pipe in the conduit and also clean the side wall of the conduit ahead of the nozzle. The cross-sectional area of the pipe is calculated so that as the pipe is pulled back down the conduit it deposits an evenly distributed, predetermined amount of lining material on the side wall of the conduit.

    Abstract: An apparatus for applying a protective coating to the inside of the welded seam of cans. When fabricating cans which are provided at their inner surface with a protective coating it is necessary, following the welding operation, to apply to the region of the welding seam the then missing part of the protective coating. Prior techniques were unable to achieve any optimum application of the seam-coating which would reliably cover the welded seam. If the fabricated cans are particularly intended for use for canned foods this then is dangerous to the health of the user. With the apparatus of the invention the protective coating is applied by means of a driven applicator roll to the welded seam. By suitably selecting the outer or jacket surface of the roll and a scraper as well as the rotational speed of the roll it is possible to optimize application of the protective coating.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for manufacturing lined latex girdles in which one end of a fabric sheath which will form the liner of a latex girdle is sewn or otherwise held closed together and slipped over an annular rectangular frame, with the closed end of the bag disposed in the middle of the annular rectangular frame. A flat form, with curved sides, is first covered with a latex film, and while tacky, is pushed through the frame, engaging the fabric liner. As the form is pushed through the frame, the liner slides over the frame, and contacts the sides of the form. When the form has been pushed completely through the frame, the liner will be supported on the form, which may then be easily withdrawn for final processing. Close tolerances between the dimensions of the form and the frame assist in providing quality control with respect to the interpenetration of the fabric liner and the latex film.
