Movable Back-up Presses Work Against Fixed Applicator Patents (Class 118/253)
  • Patent number: 11947458
Abstract: A device is connected via a coherence interconnect to a CPU with a cache. The device monitors cache coherence events via the coherence interconnect, where the cache coherence events relate to the cache of the CPU. The device also includes a buffer that can contain representations, such as addresses, of cache lines. If a coherence event occurs on the coherence interconnect indicating that a cache line in the CPU's cache is dirty, then the device is configured to add an entry to the buffer to record the dirty cache line.

  • Patent number: 8574668
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses herein may provide for the application of viscous fluids, such as adhesives, in pre-determined patterns to an advancing substrate. The fluid application apparatus may include a slot die applicator and a substrate carrier. The substrate carrier may include one or more pattern elements and may be adapted to advance the substrate past the slot die applicator as the slot die applicator discharges adhesive onto the substrate. In operation, the substrate is disposed on the substrate carrier; the substrate carrier advances the substrate past the slot opening of the slot die applicator. In turn, the substrate is intermittently compressed between the slot die applicator and the pattern surface of the pattern element. As the substrate is intermittently compressed, adhesive discharged from the slot die applicator is applied onto the substrate in an area having a shape substantially the same as a shape defined by the pattern surface.

Abstract: A method for intermittently applying thin-film coatings is realized, by which a coating of extremely thin film reduced to 20 ?m or less in thickness is deposited intermittently with high productivity and at the same time, the trailing coating edge of the thin film is formed in a highly accurate shape having good linearity. This is achieved as follows. A band-shaped substrate (1) traveling in one direction is kept looped over a stationary reference-roller (4) and a movable actuation roller (7), and is brought into contact with an application roller (19) which carries a coating agent (18) on its circumferential surface and rotates in a direction opposite to the direction of travel of the substrate (1). The actuation roller (7) is moved to come into or out of contact with the substrate (1) with a predetermined timing.

  • Patent number: 4365583
Abstract: A plating chamber holds a reducing or inert atmosphere heated to a temperature suited for plating or galvanizing. A pair of power-driven coating rolls are horizontally disposed in the plating chamber, one roll contacting the top surface of a metal strip to be plated and the other contacting the bottom surface. A molten coating metal is continuously supplied so as to form a uniform film of the metal on the peripheral surface of each coating roll. By means of deflector rolls horizontally disposed in the plating chamber, a metal strip heated to a temperature suited for plating continuously travels through the chamber. A surface of the strip becomes plated on contacting the peripheral surface of the coating roll on which the film of the molten coating metal has been formed. The coating rolls can be drawn away from the surface of the strip by shifting the deflector or coating rolls, so that plating can be applied to one, both or neither side of the strip as desired.

  • Patent number: 4082059
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to novel fluid application processes and apparatus wherein fluid extruded through a nozzle is wiped off the nozzle at varopis angles of attack by forcing a moving sheet, web, or other article against the nozzle in a controlled manner as the same moves past the nozzle, thus to produce predetermined in-line coatings upon the sheet, web, or other article, ranging from an array of dots and lines to an array of bands or elongated continuous bands of coating fluid.

  • Patent number: 4046931
Abstract: A coating material such as a high viscosity, low solvent content paint is applied to metal strip by means of a coater which comprises a soft-covered take-up roll which draws coating material from a reservoir and coacts with a hard metering roll (from which excess coating material is continuously removed by a doctor blade), to form a metered film on the surface of the take-up roll. The metered film is transferred to a small diameter hard transfer roll from which it is in turn transferred to a soft covered applicator roll, by which it is applied to the strip. At each line of contact between two rolls or between the applicator roll and the strip the mutually contacting surfaces travel in opposite directions (i.e., the rolls all rotate in the same sense). Preferably the peripheral speed of the applicator roll is greater than that of the transfer roll, which is greater than that of the take-up roll, but the strip speed is preferably lower than that of the applicator roll.

  • Patent number: 4029833
Abstract: Apparatus and method for applying extremely thin coatings of liquid materials entering the apparatus at a viscosity in the range of up to 10,000 centipoises absolute viscosity through a combination of factors involving the use of at least four rolls of desired physical characteristics and roll speeds to continuously extract a relatively thick film from a pool of the liquid, reduce it to an ultra thin coating free of discontinuities, and unite the thin coating with a web.
