Movably Mounted Applicator Patents (Class 118/256)
  • Patent number: 7963245
Abstract: A liquid application device includes a rotating unit for rotating an application member to apply liquid to a medium in contact with the application member, a liquid application unit including the application member, and a retention member for retaining liquid in a sealed liquid retention space formed to be in contact with the application member. The liquid application unit applies the liquid retained in the liquid retention space to the medium via the application member by rotating the application member. In addition, a control unit controls the rotating unit, wherein the control unit controls, after receiving information of instruction on applying liquid to the medium, the rotating unit to rotate, before the application member contacts the medium, the application member so that the rotating unit performs a preliminary rotation that forms a pool of the liquid in an area.

  • Patent number: 7896966
Abstract: An applying amount to an applying medium is controlled in a liquid applying apparatus. Specifically, before driving a pump, a circulation speed decision processing (S3) is carried out. According to this decided speed, a speed of the circulation flow generated in a liquid holding space is controlled in a pump operating process (S4). This controls a pressure in the liquid holding space. As a result, a state of flow of the applying liquid at a contact member of a liquid holding member in contact with the applying roller is changed, and an amount of the applying liquid adhering to an applying roller and going out of the contact portion is controlled. This can control the amount of the applying liquid to be applied to the applying medium.

  • Patent number: 7767271
Abstract: A method for producing a metallized image on a sheet material includes impregnating the material with a metal salts-containing solution and exposing the specified material points to a pulse laser radiation. The interaction of the pulses with the solution within a laser spot irritates a photochemical reaction resulting in a metal ion reduction into the elementary state thereof by associating the required number of electrons and deposition of metallic film which is firmly fixed to the filler of the sheet material in the laser spot area on the material surface. In case of sufficient laser radiation power, a recess is formed on the sheet material surface, and the metallic film is deposited on the bottom of the recess.

  • Publication number: 20090183672
Abstract: A cap sheet metal (and pivot sheet metal) is configured to be able to move linearly with a cap arm (and an arm stay) via engagement between an engagement hole and a fitting shaft. Furthermore, the cap sheet metal (and the pivot sheet metal) can move pivotally with respect to the cap arm (and the arm stay) using the fitting shaft, which engages with the engagement hole, as a pivotal shaft. Thus, even if, for example, the direction of biasing toward the applying roller deviates or a positional relationship with the applying roller deviates slightly, the liquid holding member moves and pivots in the bias direction depending on the deviation. As a result, the contacting pressure of a contacting portion on the applying roller can be made uniform.

Abstract: A moistening device that significantly reduces any loss of contact between the applicator and envelope flap regardless of the thickness of the mail piece or size of the flap, thereby ensuring sufficient wetting of the glue line on the envelope flap with moistening fluid, is provided. A deflection device is added to a portion of the support to which the applicator is secured. The deflection device is located and sized to exert a force on the applicator, causing the applicator to form into a shape that more closely matches the shape of an envelope flap being processed, while also allowing the applicator to flex slightly in multiple directions. This results in little to no loss of contact between the applicator and glue line on the envelope flap, thereby allowing sufficient moistening fluid to be transferred from the applicator to the glue line.

Abstract: A squeegee unit comprises a paste pressurizing slope and a squeegee. The paste pressurizing slope is inclined at an angle narrower than 90° to a surface of a screen mask in a printing direction. As solder paste is pressurized by means of the paste pressurizing slope, the solder paste is filled into a mask hole. The squeegee has a paste scraping surface for scraping off the solder paste on the screen mask. The paste scraping surface extends at an angle of 90° or more to the surface of the screen mask in the printing direction.

Abstract: An emulsion coater is provided with a framework having a table or work surface for supporting a sheet of material that is to be coated e.g., a sheet of transparent plastic film. A carriage is mounted on the framework for rectilinear movement thereacross parallel to the surface of the sheet to advance a coating applicator across the sheet. A coating dryer is also mounted on the carriage to progressively dry the coating from one end to the other as it is applied. A motor is supported on the framework for moving the carriage forwardly from one end of the sheet to the other. Provision is made for disengaging the coating applicator from the carriage once the coating has been applied and thereafter moving the carriage in a reverse direction across the applied coating to the starting position while optionally continuing to dry the coating.

Abstract: The automated system includes a fluid dispenser having an applicator tip which is used to apply a fluid to an object. A compliance mechanism is utilized to assist in maintaining the applicator tip of the fluid dispenser in contact with the object during the coating operation. A robot can be utilized to advance the object past the applicator tip during the coating operation. The fluid dispenser is mounted on a movable arm to allow the fluid dispenser to be moved or rotated into and away from the position where fluid is applied to the object. The automated system provides a fluid application system that can apply a precise and repeatable layer of fluid to an object. The use of the robot allows larger objects to be easily handled and for the coating process to be done in a rapid fashion. The automated system is flexible and can readily accommodate changes in the object that is to be coated or the configuration of the coating that is to be applied to the object.

Abstract: A method and applicator for use in applying hazardous chemical solutions to surfaces. The invention employes a pen applicator to apply a measured amount of the hazardous chemical solution to a surface as a dispensing tip is applied to the surface. A typical pen applicator includes a tubular body in which a liquid absorbing material is disposed to hold the hazardous solution. A tip is in contact with the reservoir and one end of the tip acts as a wick to draw the solution from the reservoir to the tip, and the other end of the tip is configured to apply the solution to a surface when that end of the tip is placed in contact with the surface. A tip cover is provided to seal the tip and tip-end of the tubular body prevent inadvertent application of the solution and to preserve the shelf life. A cap or sealing member is provided at the end of the body to seal the reservoir.
