  • Patent number: 5658619
Abstract: A system and method for adhering resin to the exterior of the bottles includes a coating section, a flash-off section, and a curing section. In the coating section, the bottles are dipped in a solution of resin and solvent. Only the exterior of the bottles is coated. The bottles are fed from the coating section to the flash-off section where they will be conveyed along a zig-zag path. In the flash-off section, air will pass over the bottles in order to remove solvent from their exterior. The bottles are then fed to the curing section where they pass in front of a plurality of ultraviolet lights. The ultraviolet lights will cure the resin on the exterior of the bottles.

  • Patent number: 5503673
Abstract: An apparatus for dipping tablets into gelatin coating material and for spreading and setting the coating immediately after dipping is provided. Carrier plates having a plurality of tablet holders are transported from a tablet loading station to a dipping station along a transport guide. At the dipping station, a carrier plate is mounted to a vacuum chamber. A set of vacuum tubes in the vacuum chamber are extended through the tablet holders to contact and lift the tablets off of the holders and secure the tablets to the tubes. In a preferred embodiment, the vacuum chamber is rotated 180.degree. and a second carrier plate is mounted onto the housing and a second set of tubes secure the tablets to the plate. The carrier plates are alternately dipped and returned to the transport guide where new plates with uncoated tablets replace the plates with coated tablets. Immediately after dipping the carrier plates enter a rotating station where the plate is rotated 360.degree.

Abstract: The present invention includes a first coating section, a second coating section and a device for transferring products from the first to the second sections. The first section includes a feeding and loading station for depositing products onto product holders retained in product carrier plates. The products are advanced to a first dipping station in the first section to coat a first portion of the product. The plates are then advanced to a first rotating station in the first station and rotated at least one revolution for spreading the coating over that first portion. The plates are then advanced to a dryer that extends over the first section of the coating apparatus and the coating is dried. The transfer device transfers the products to the second section of the coating apparatus in such a manner to expose the uncoated portion of the products. The plates are then advanced to identical dipping and rotating stations and dryer as in the first section.

  • Patent number: 5012918
Abstract: A part conveyor includes a series of slide bars of equal lengths. Each bar is movable in a pair of parallel rails and in transfer rails at the ends of the parallel rails. The slide bars have upwardly opening U-shaped members projecting from the rails. A push rod simultaneously moves the slide bars through the rails to advance the bars. A cross rod rests in an aligned member for movement of the crossbar and part with the slide bars. A transfer rail unit is provided at the ends of each run for moving of the slide bars from the rails. In an over/under line, transfer rails receive and move the slide bars. A U-shaped carriage is mounted on vertically movable tracks for movement between and end of the rail run and a load source. The parallel rails drop below the top of the carriage sides and drops the cross rod onto the carriage. The carriage moves to a load source and the tracks are lowered to unload the cross rod and receive another cross rod. The tracks are raised and returned.

  • Patent number: 4987851
Abstract: An organic film forming apparatus includes a trough storing water therein and a work drive device for moving a work with respect to the trough. The surface of the water is partitioned by a rod into a first developing region on which a monomolecular film is developed and a second developing region on which no monomolecular film is developed. The work is moved by the device through the developed monomolecular film so as to adhere the film on the surface of the work. The device has a holding mechanism which has a holding portion engaged with the work, and which holds the work so that when the work passes through the developed monomolecular film, the holding portion is away from the film or passes through the film after almost the entire work passes through the film.

  • Patent number: 4915986
Abstract: An eyeglass lens tinting machine which utilizes a microprocessor-controlled stepping motor to carefully control the vertical oscillations of a support structure including a vertical shaft which mounts a horizontal boom which in turn supports an eyeglass lens holder. The lens holder is moved directly up and down (with substantially no horizontal components of movement) by the mechanism. The base which mounts the vertically sliding shaft which supports the boom also mounts the stepping motor and printed circuit board with the microprocessor controller on it. The tinting machine has two basic modes of operation, the solid tint mode in which the lens is lowered beneath the surface of dye in a dye vat and reciprocated completely immersed for a pre-set period of time to create an even, uniform tint.

  • Patent number: 4848270
Abstract: An apparatus for forming thin organic films includes a plurality of water tanks each containing water. Monomolecular films of different amphiphatic organic molecules are developed on the surfaces of the liquid in water tanks, respectively. A work is dipped into and raised out of a desired water tank, by a driving device, in a direction substantially perpendicular to the liquid surface, so that the monomolecular film in the water tank is adhered on a work surface. The work is transported by a transporting device to a position above another water tank, through an area lying above the water tanks. Then, the work is dipped into and raised out of the other water tank, by the driving device, in a direction substantially perpendicular to the monomolecular film, so that another monomolecular film is adhered on the monomolecular film already formed on the work surface.
