Patent number: 6096376Abstract: A collapsible metal tube, comprising: a metal body portion susceptible of plastic deformation, the body portion being sealed at one end; a shoulder portion and a mouth/neck portion connected to the other end of the body portion; and a resin film provided on the inside wall surface of the body portion, the resin film comprising a metal-adhesive thermoplastic resin layer formed by spray-coating the inside wall surface of the body portion with a dispersion of fine spherical particles consisting of a metal-adhesive thermoplastic resin and then heating to integrate the particles. The resin film formed on the inside of the collapsible metal tube is reliable because it is a dense resin film virtually devoid of pinholes, excellent in elongation at break, and free from cracking when folded or deformed, and is excellent in ability of protecting the metal body portion and the contents.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 1998Date of Patent: August 1, 2000Assignee: Taisei Kako Co., Ltd.Inventors: Yuichi Yamamoto, Kenji Ohnishi

Patent number: 5695559Abstract: An abrasive flap brush including a central core, a layer of adhesive disposed on the peripheral surface of the core by a coater, and a plurality of abrasive flaps adhered to the core by the adhesive. The adhesive is uniformly distributed around the core by providing either the core or the adhesive coater with spacing projections that maintain a predetermined minimum distance between the coater and the core when the adhesive is applied. A coater including the spacing projections is also disclosed, as is a method for making an abrasive flap brush.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 1996Date of Patent: December 9, 1997Assignee: Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing CompanyInventors: Jeanne M. Carr, Jeffrey R. Clampitt, Dean R. Zimmerman

Patent number: 5614265Abstract: A method and apparatus for applying a coating to a continuous length of tubing. A coating chamber having entry and exit ports substantially encloses a portion of the tubing while permitting the tubing to pass continuously therethrough. Airflow into the coating chamber through the exit port strips excess coating material from the tubing surface. Air is withdrawn from the coating chamber by vacuum pumps through one or more separation chambers which separate entrained particles or droplets of coating material from the air. The coating chamber is preferably disposed at a distance from the separation chamber(s). The vacuum line connecting the coating chamber with the separation chamber(s) is preferably flexible or breakable. The separation chambers are preferably capable of being operated in series or in parallel. Adjustable masks are preferably provided at the entry and exit ports of the coating chamber. A seal is preferably provided at the entry port.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 1995Date of Patent: March 25, 1997Assignee: Allied Tube & Conduit CorporationInventors: Manzoor A. Chaudhry, Jeffrey L. Lamber, Bruce E. Laumann, Edward E. Mild, Brian G. Muick, Stephen T. Norvilas, David S. Pliner, Stephen E. Seilheimer

Patent number: 5198028Abstract: A position setting apparatus for positioning a drum so that it may be uniformly coated with a photosensitive coating liquid to produce a photoreceptor, wherein the position of the drum is set by centripetally blowing a pressurized fluid from a fluid outlet means directly against the drum. The drum is positioned by the balance of the pressure of the blown fluid, and the surface of the drum is thereby protected from scratching as no mechanical device is required to touch the drum during positioning.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 1991Date of Patent: March 30, 1993Assignee: Konica CorporationInventors: Nakaya Nakano, Hitoshi Mitake, Takeshi Tanaka, Kazuyuki Shimizu
