Abstract: A wallpaper preparation device including a tray having a length and defining a reservoir for receiving a fluid for application to wallpaper. A roller rotatably carried by the tray and extending into the reservoir. A retaining member having opposing ends engagable with engagement features formed in opposing ends of the tray on a first side of the roller. The retaining member extends the length of the tray parallel to a surface of the roller with a gap therebetween, for holding the wallpaper against the roller. The retaining member is adjustable to increase and decrease the gap, thereby decreasing and increasing a frictional force between the wallpaper to be prepared and the roller.

Abstract: An improved wallpaper pasting machine 10 and method of manufacture and use. The pasting machine 10 has a lid 20 and a trough 30. The lid 20 can completely cover the trough 30 to keep the paste from further drying out. An applying roller 40 for applying paste 90 to wallpaper 100 is placed within the inner compartment 35 of trough 30. A scraper bar 50 is mounted at the rear portion of trough 30, and the scraper bar 50 scrapes excess paste 90 from wallpaper 100. A snap lock 22 located on the lid 20 is used to secure the lid 20 to trough 30. Paper tension ribs 27 and 28 are located in the interior portion of lid 20 for providing tension on wallpaper 100 and for guiding and pressing the wallpaper 100 to the applying roller 40 to apply paste 90 onto the wallpaper 100 as the wallpaper 100 is pulled through the machine 10. A return roller 60 can be adjusted in position and held to one of three sets of holes 24--24, 25--25, and 26--26 that are on the lid.

Abstract: An apparatus including a trough having an upstream end, a downstream end and opposing sidewalls, an applicator roller carried by the trough, an adjustable scraper bar carried by the trough upstream of and adjacent to the applicator roller, an adjustment assembly for adjusting the scraper bar for allowing a user to adjust the amount of paste removed from the surface of the wallpaper, a lid removably and hingedly coupled to the trough for movement between an open position and a closed position, and an outfeed roller carried proximate the trough upstream of the scraper bar.

Abstract: A glue sizing mechanism includes a container secured to the bottom of a pair of walls. A coil of sheet member is rotatably supported on the walls. A roller has the ends slidably engaged in the walls and a pair of cams are engaged with the ends of the roller for moving the roller up and down. A cover is pivotally secured to the walls for covering the roller and includes a panel having a groove for engaging with a knife. A rule includes two extensions secured to the walls for measuring the width of the sheet member.

Abstract: A paste dispenser having a paste reservoir and an applicator for containing and applying paste to wallpaper. A package having a container and a base, transformable between a package configuration wherein the paste dispenser is received within the container and the container is closed by the base, and an applicator configuration wherein the base extends from the container and carries the paste dispenser. Arresting means in contact with the wallpaper for limiting the flow of paste from the paste dispenser.

Abstract: Wallpaper dispenser for automatically hydrating a film of glue pre-applied to one side of a roll of wallpaper. The dispenser includes a reservoir having a roll of wallpaper rotatably supported thereover and a roller for guiding the wallpaper within a quantity of water contained within the reservoir. A ramp is provided for cutting the wallpaper and includes a cutting ridge along which a cutting member is drawn to cut the wallpaper perpendicular to the length thereof. A tape measure and means for securing the tape measure adjacent the ridge are provided to indicate the point, forwardly of the ridge, adjacent which the forward margin of the wallpaper should be positioned. A slidable member is provided to automatically align the pattern on one strip of wallpaper with the same pattern on a previously cut strip when the strips are positioned in laterally adjacent relation and with the top margins thereof in alignment.

Abstract: A trough having an upstream end and a downstream end removably carrying an applicator roller rotated by driving means and a scraper bar, the scraper bar upstream of and adjacent the applicator roller, and a pressure area downstream of the applicator roller. A lid hingedly coupled to the trough, carrying an outfeed roller downstream of the scraper bar for guiding wallpaper over the applicator roller and the scraper bar.

Abstract: A manually operated sizing machine comprising a sheet roll unit, a size container with a sheet pullout port, a separation wall thereof and a clearance at the bottom of said wall, and designed to size a sheet pulled out through the clearance at the bottom of the separation wall.It is a compact and less expensive machine which permits easy and even sizing on wall paper, floor sheet and various kinds of sheet.

Abstract: A trough structure is arranged for directing and supporting a roll of wallpaper webbing therethrough to effect wetting or adherence of glue to the wallpaper structure. The trough structure includes a forward wall spaced from a partition wall, with the partition wall spaced forwardly of a rear edge portion of the side walls to define a roll support cavity to rotatably mount the wallpaper roll therewithin. A modification of the invention includes an applicator brush in association with a trough guide roll to apply a glue material to a bottom surface of the wallpaper webbing, and may further include a supply reservoir arranged for pressurizing and directing fluid glue interiorly of the trough structure through the associated applicator roll.

Abstract: The apparatus has a spindle rod on which a supply roll of wallcovering is placed, a tensioning rod under which the wallpaper is entrained as it is drawn from the supply roll, a powered take-up roll on which the wallpaper is rolled up, and provisions to readily reposition the tensioning rod so as to force the wallpaper to pass under water contained in a tray. Quick-release fastening devices permit the apparatus to be readily assembled to constitute a carry case with all parts contained, subsequently quickly opened and put into operation, and subsequently the water tray and rods snapped out for cleaning. All parts, including all the structural members, can be easily carried to a sink, tub, or yard hose for rinsing.

Abstract: A tray is provided for dispensing and wetting pre-pasted wallpaper. The tray features a trough and a dispenser rod for holding a roll of wallpaper. The wallpaper can be extended to a desired length and cut directly from the dispenser rod. The cut wallpaper is then placed on a shelf adjacent to a trough containing a wetting agent. The wallpaper is passed under the shelf and through the trough being guided by a guide submersed in the trough to ensure proper wetting. The paper is then withdrawn from the trough and hung on the desired surface.

Abstract: A wallpaper applicator for single-handedly applying on a flat surface and in a single continuous stroke the sticky face of a wallpaper. The applicator is characterized in that it eliminates distortion of the wallpaper and formation of air bubbles in between the wallpaper and the applied surface. The device comprises an elongated cross-sectionally polygonal casing in which lies a web of wallpaper; the latter is biased against two of the flat side walls of the casing by a weight rod engaged in the cylindrical hollow defined by the wallpaper web. One casing flat side wall defines a longitudinal slot through which escapes the leading edge portion of the wallpaper.

Abstract: An upwardly open wallpaper wetting trough made from flexible polystyrene has a metal rod force fitted between the opposite ends of the trough and has vinyl tips fitted over the rod ends to protect the ends of the trough from puncture. An inwardly opening, outwardly extending channel is formed in each end of the trough to receive the ends of the rod in a force fit to maintain the rod in position while a sheet of wallpaper is being pulled through water in the trough guided by the rod.

Abstract: An elongated paste containing box is provided having a shaft supporting a roll of wall covering sheet adjacent the rear face of the rear wall of the box. A bottom wall is pivoted for vertical movement relative to the bottom edge of the front wall of the box and is spaced from the bottom edge of the rear wall of the box so that a sheet of wall covering can be passed through the bottom of the box on the bottom wall and in contact with a body of adhesive paste contained therein. A linkage for applying a compressive force to opposite ends of the bottom wall is provided to permit a desired bow in the bottom wall to be produced and thus maintain the bottom wall in a desired, vertically spaced relationship to the front wall of the box to obtain either a uniform or a desired non-uniform deposit of paste from one lateral edge to the other lateral edge of the wall covering sheet passing through the box.

Abstract: An apparatus for applying glue to a wallpaper which is passed therethrough along a drive direction includes a frame which is adapted to hold glue, a glue application roller mounted on the frame, a rerouting roller in parallel with, and downstream of the application roller, as seen along the drive direction, and adapted to be in operative engagement with the glue application roller through the wallpaper, and a drive motor in direct driving connection with the rerouting roller.

Abstract: An apparatus for coating a wall covering with paste or other adhesive and for cutting the coated covering at its desired length. A coating station, having wall covering supply roll supports, for applying adhesive to the back of a wall covering and a cutting station for cutting the coated covering material at its desired length are fixed to an articulated foldable work table generally at one end thereof. The work table includes spaced side sections defining an aisle and a longitudinal center section normally biased to fill the aisle, but which may be urged toward the coating and cutting stations by body pressure from the waist of the operator and, as the operator walks the covering backward, the center section follows in continuous resumption of its first position to cooperate with the side sections to form a platform for supporting the coated wall covering.

Abstract: A pasting machine having paste applicator roll, a feed roll rotated in a direction opposite to the direction of rotation of the applicator roll and a guide plate surrounding a circumferential region of the applicator roll, said guide plate taking up paste from the feed roll by means of a longitudinal edge facing the periphery of the feed roll and forcing said paste against the said circumferential region so as to uniformly coat the applicator roll with a layer of paste.

Abstract: A wallpaper pasting machine comprises a tray for the paste, rollers for transferring paste to the paper and guide means extending across the tray for training the paper over the rollers. The guide means are engaged by resilient side wall portions of the tray and are removable by deforming the side wall portions. A cutting template for guiding the cutting of the paper is also described.

Abstract: An apparatus for applying wallpaper which moistens prepasted wallpaper or applies paste to unpasted wallpaper and guides the paper as it is withdrawn from the roll and applied to the wall. The apparatus includes a base for rotatably supporting a roll of wallpaper and a frame attached to the base for supporting at least one pair of rollers for guiding the wallpaper through a trough partly filled with a liquid such as water or paste. The apparatus for use with paste has one roll in the trough of paste and a further roll for transfering paste from the roll to the paper.

Abstract: This invention relates to an improved prepasted wallpaper trough assembly having a thin walled polystyrene tray with a horizontal bar. The bar is engaged in place in the tray by forcing the ends of the bar downward into channels formed in the ends of the tray. The width of the bar is slightly larger than the width of the channels and therefore the channels resiliently engage the ends of the bar. Thus, the "memory" factor of the plastic which, when deformed attempts to return to its original shape holds the bar in place during the wallpapering operation. The assembly is simple and its shape enables it to be made extremely economically by vacuum forming.
