Publication number: 20140360438Abstract: Described are an apparatus and method for remotely releasing one or more game animals. The apparatus includes one or more doors that enclose an inside of a game-release box. When in a closed position, the game-release box can selectively secure one or more game animals. The game-release box may include a receiver in communication with a remote, and may include an actuator that selectively engages one of the one or more doors. Upon receiving a signal from the remote, the receiver causes the actuator to disengage a latch associated with one of the one or more doors. Once at least one of the one or more doors has opened, the one or more game animals may exit the game-release box.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 6, 2014Publication date: December 11, 2014Inventor: William Terrell Cooke, III

Patent number: 7703415Abstract: An animal release chute for use in steer or calf roping competitions is described. The chute has a fixed section and a moveable section that telescopes forwardly relative to the fixed section. A release gate at the forward end of the moveable section is moveable between a closed position for retaining a steer or calf inside the chute and an open position releasing the steer or calf from the chute. A sensor at the rearward end of the fixed section senses the presence of the horse of the roper at the rearward end of the fixed section. Only when the roper's horse is at the rearward end of the fixed section can the gate be released to release the calf. The chute system assures that there is always the fixed, predetermined distance between the calf and the roper at release.Type: GrantFiled: February 8, 2007Date of Patent: April 27, 2010Assignee: Priefert Manufacturing Compayny, Inc.Inventor: Paul Denny Gentry

Patent number: 7258079Abstract: A method and apparatus for waterproofing game birds is provided. The game birds are sprayed with a waterproofing composition in amounts that prevent excessive water absorption by the feathers of the birds in wet weather, while still permitting the game birds to fly.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 2005Date of Patent: August 21, 2007Inventors: Ken Foster, Ralph Brendle

Patent number: 7174847Abstract: An insect storage, maintenance, dusting, and distribution device that dispenses living insects to caged animals. A Tower compartment is connected to a separate Dusting Chamber compartment with apertures on both compartments that may be aligned by rotating the Tower above the Dusting Chamber to form a passage for insects. The insects can move from the Tower to the Dusting Chamber which coats the insects with a nutritional dust. The insects are then allowed to move from the Dusting Chamber through a Feeder Tube into the animal(s)' habitat for their consumption by the animal.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 2004Date of Patent: February 13, 2007Inventor: William A. Patent number: 7096825Abstract: A bird launcher for hunt training with a door through which a bird is placed in a guide belt in an interior of a housing substantially eliminates injury to the bird. An elastic spring mounted at one end of an operating rod substantially eliminates inadvertent movement of an operating rod thereby preventing a premature launch, thus improving the safety of the operator and the bird. A fixing member is centered on the bird launcher's longitudinal center line and extends to at least one-half of a length of guide rods. The fixing member places pressure in the approximate center of the guide rods thereby preventing the guide rods from opening at the ends and additionally creating a balanced release point when the bird launcher is activated. The balance release point ensures a more stabilized launch so that the bird is released in a desired direction.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 2004Date of Patent: August 29, 2006Assignee: D.T. Systems, Inc.Inventor: J. S. Kim

Patent number: 6886493Abstract: A motor assisted swivel is disclosed which aids in proper rotation of a swivel in a tether system for animal testing. The swivel may have any number of fluid conduits or electrical or optical leads. A switching mechanism determines a direction of rotation of the tether and activates a motor to rotate the swivel in the direction of rotation. When rotation of the tether stops, further rotation of the swivel causes the switching mechanism to deactivate the motor. The switching mechanism may include a hinged connector with magnets on each side and reed switches to sense movement of the connector about its hinge.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 2003Date of Patent: May 3, 2005Assignee: Pro Med-Tec, Inc.Inventors: Anthony Deneintolis, John Kauker IV, James Burke, III

Patent number: 6487991Abstract: Disclosed herein is a bird launcher with a remote controlled system. The bird launcher includes a box open on its top. First and second support bars are extended widthwise from the upper corners of the sidewalls of the box. A pair of cradle rods are each rotatably inserted at both ends into two holes formed in one-side ends of the support bars. A net-shaped fabric is attached at opposite side ends to the cradle rods. A holding lever is rotatably attached to the box by a center pin, and rotatably provided at its upper end with a roller bearing. A release lever rotatably is attached to the first support bar so as to position a bird accommodated in the fabric in the box when its bend portion is engaged with the roller bearing and a depression formed on the box. A transmitter transmits a user's command.Type: GrantFiled: September 5, 2001Date of Patent: December 3, 2002Inventor: Ho-Yun So

Publication number: 20020158764Abstract: A system and method for freeing a pet from a portable holding cage. A portable holding cage is provided with a door that can be locked in a closed position by an electromechanical locking mechanism. The operation of the electromechanical locking mechanism is controlled by a systems controller. The systems controller monitors alarm signals transmitted to it from a remote smoke detector. The transmitted alarm signals can be audible alarm signals, radio alarm signals or optical alarm signals. Once the alarm signal is received and identified by the systems controller, the systems controller activates the electromechanical locking mechanism and opens the door to the holding cage.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 30, 2001Publication date: October 31, 2002Inventor: Matthew R. Patent number: 6321685Abstract: A birdcage has a movable wing above its door opening. The wing is pivotally mounted such that the wing can be rotated between a first position wherein the wing extends downwardly from its pivot axis to a level below the top of the door and a second position wherein the wing does not extend downwardly from the pivot axis to a level below the top of the door. The wing works in combination with a traditional latch that is located lower, along the free side of the door. Because the wing and latch are spaced apart, a bird cannot reach both at the same time and cannot unlock the cage. The wing also acts as a safety device that can be used to prevent leg crushing. When the cage door is open, the wing hangs down and blocks a portion of the door opening. If the cage door is inadvertently bumped, the door cannot swing fully to the closed position because the wing blocks its travel.Type: GrantFiled: May 19, 2000Date of Patent: November 27, 2001Inventor: D-Arcy Fountain
