Abstract: An animal feed mechanism with feed agitator assembly includes a feed bin, a funnel-shaped boot attached to a bottom of the feed bin, an agitator system installed in the boot, and a conveying device for conveying feed out of the boot. The agitator system is installed using boot mount brackets attached to end walls of the boot, and holes cut in the sidewalls of the boot after the boot mount brackets are attached. The boot mount brackets each include a lower ledge with a sufficient length to block the free flow of feed out of the holes cut in the sidewalls of the boot due to the angle of repose of the feed. The agitator system includes a motor driven agitator shaft with radial projections that can be inserted through the holes cut in the boot and supported at each end by bearings attached to the boot mount brackets.
Abstract: A poultry feeder system and method provides a mobile or movable feeder system which incorporates the functions and features necessary to provide poultry (for example) with essential and/or non-essential food and provisions for living and thriving. The poultry feeder system and method includes a body or (the cart) in which compartments are installed to divide various feeds or to provide storage of feed so the user can store and replenish the feed bins as needed. The feeder system may include wheels and handles, making the feeder system easy to move across terrain so that the user can move the feeder system to various locations in a field or property. The system includes an optional removable scratch spreader system that can be used to throw feed of various types.
Abstract: A motorized wildlife feeder provides a reliable flow of powdery feeds, such as rice bran, from a hopper to the ground. The hopper is partially formed by a funnel with a unique, eight-sided shape. The unique shape of the funnel is believed to provide reliable flow of powdery feeds, whereas typical funnels with round sides tend to plug when such feeds are used. Vibrators attached to the hopper assist the flow of feed from the hopper into a trough, where an auger moves the feed to a downspout and onto the ground.
Abstract: An apparatus is described for dispensing precise quantities of particulate medication to livestock, in particular sows during gestation. The apparatus includes a medication hopper having a lower discharge opening; a mechanically or electrically actuated measuring valve including a chamber having a volume corresponding to the volume of the desired medication dosage. The chamber is movable between a first position in which the chamber inlet is aligned with the hopper discharge opening and a second position for discharging medication from the chamber. A discharge conduit extends downwardly from the chamber discharge opening, and has outlet end positionable adjacent the area where the medication is to be dispensed. In a preferred embodiment, the apparatus includes wheels and a counter.
Abstract: A device for supplying feed to animals, such as cows. The device is provided with a number of hoppers, each for containing a stock of a particular sort of feed, with a feed trough which is accessible to an animal, and with conveying means for conveying feed from the hoppers to the feed trough. The device is provided with a control device, said control device controlling the device in such a way that the sorts of feed are supplied to the feed trough in order of increasing adhesiveness factor.
