  • Patent number: 11882814
Abstract: A horizontal feed storage system may comprise an elongated feed container having a length and a width, wherein the length is at least ten times greater than the width. The elongated feed container may have a fill opening through which the feed is deposited into the elongated feed container and a feed removal opening through which feed is removed from the elongated feed container. The elongated feed container may be movable. The elongated feed container may include multiple conveyance mechanisms disposed within the elongated feed container. The multiple conveyance mechanisms may include a first conveyance mechanism and a second conveyance mechanism, wherein the first conveyance mechanism may displace feed by moving the feed in a first direction away from the fill opening, and/or the second conveyance mechanism may displace feed by moving the feed in a second direction toward the feed removal opening.

  • Patent number: 11008172
Abstract: A corner unit for a feed conveying system includes a housing and a wheel. The housing defines a cavity and a track. The track is configured to receive a material conveying string. The wheel is disposed at least partially within the cavity of the housing and is configured to rotate within the cavity. The housing includes a plurality of ridges protruding into the cavity. The wheel includes a central hub, an outer rim, and one or more spokes extending from a first end coupled to the central hub to a second end coupled to the outer rim. At least one of the one or more spokes is swept such that, when the wheel is rotated in a first direction, the second end trails the first end such that rotation of the wheel in the first direction sweeps material that enters the cavity from the cavity and into the track.

  • Patent number: 8443758
Abstract: A feed bin boot slide operator provides an arm which may be adjustable in length operably coupled to a handle supported by a leg. The leg and arm are preferably pivotably connected together and the leg may terminate at a foot with a pivot. Movement of the handle reciprocates the arm which is connected to a sliding door so the operator need not crouch underneath the feed bin to operate the door.

  • Patent number: 8418837
Abstract: A corner assembly for a tube conveyor system comprises a housing defining a wheel receiving area and a flow path with ports at opposite ends of the flow path. A wheel rotatably received in the wheel receiving area comprises a rim having an upper surface and a lower surface; a pair of spaced apart channels formed in at least one of the upper and lower surfaces of the rim; and at least one flapper pivotally mounted to the wheel inside of the rim. The flapper is freely movable between a position in which it is aligned with a wall of one of the channels and a position in which it is aligned with a wall of the other of the channels. • Patent number: 8100084
Abstract: A system and method is described for determining, based on one or more variables, the appropriate amount of food to dispense in order to implement weight management individually tailored to one or more pets. Based on the one or more variables, a predefined weight of food is determined that should be dispensed in a container during a given time interval. If the current weight of the food within the container has reached a threshold weight, then no additional food is added to the container during the given time interval. However, if it is determined that the threshold has not been reached, then more food is added to the container. The process is repeated during the given time interval until the threshold is reached, and then optionally again for additional given time intervals.

  • Patent number: 6520113
Abstract: A device for supplying fodder to animals such as cows which has a plurality of hoppers containing fodder wherein each hopper may have a different type of fodder. A plurality of feeding troughs are provided which are accessible to animals to feed therefrom. Each hopper has a conveyor for conveying fodder from that hopper to a control component that has a receptacle which receives fodder from selected hoppers. Under control of the control component selected conveyors in the hoppers convey predetermined amounts of fodder therefrom to the receptacle. The receptacle has a bottom which can be opened and from which fodder falls through a pipe or chute to a selected trough. The device is provided with a container which may be one of the hoppers edible separating material which may be supplied to the receptacle to form a layer on top of which fodder is received and is wrapped, at least in part, by the edible separating material as it falls through the bottom of the receptacle into the underlying pipe or chute.

  • Patent number: 6487988
Abstract: A poultry agitator is operable for use in conjunction with long rectangular confined poultry houses equipped with a flow-through ventilation system. The agitator imitates the action of a human moving through a congregation of birds to encourage the birds to exercise, feed and intake water. The agitator is formed as a continuous cable that is supported in a circumferential route around the poultry house. The cable is entrained around a drive wheel that is operable to circulate the flexible cable and the agitator members attached thereto. A stop mechanism halts the movement of the agitator members near the end of the building and effects a reversal of the direction of operation of the drive wheel to cause the agitator to be returned to the initial home position. The cable is supported from spaced hangers without the need for massive support beam structure to carry the agitator along its path of travel along the side walls of the poultry house. The agitator is clamped on the cable to move therewith.

  • Patent number: 6263833
Abstract: A portable livestock feed dispenser is mounted on the bed of a flatbed truck, pickup, or other suitable vehicle. The dispenser comprises an elongate box or hopper with a dispenser end positioned adjacent one edge or end of the flatbed, for dispensing livestock feed to a feed site as desired. A lid extends over the entire top of the apparatus, with a hinge system allowing the lid to be positioned to one side of the device for filling the hopper. A lateral power auger extends the length of the structure, and receives feed from the upper hopper for dispensing from the dispenser outlet. The auger receives power from the electrical or other power supply of the vehicle upon which the dispenser is mounted, with auger operation being controllable remotely from the vehicle cab. A counter is driven by rotation of the auger, for measuring the amount of feed dispensed by the device. The counter may be mechanical, but is preferably electrically operated in order to provide a remote readout in the cab of the vehicle.
