Poultry Exercising Patents (Class 119/70)
  • Patent number: 11382307
Abstract: An improved hog/livestock feeder uses a bump cone on a pendulum swivel as opposed to rotary motion. A support structure suspends a feed hopper directly above a feed pan. A bump cone swings with a pendulum motion within a funnel in the hopper. The lower edge of the bump cone is accessible between the open bottom of the hopper and the upper rim of the feed pan, such that when an animal nudges the bump cone, a gap between the hopper funnel and bump cone widens, and feed falls from the hopper and into the feed pan. The device enabling the bump cone to swing a pendulum motion may be a spring, a multi-axis joint, or a length of flexible material. A raised feed diverter structure may extend upwardly from the bottom of the feed pan, and the bump cone may be perforated to further distribute the feed.

  • Patent number: 10645909
Abstract: An enclosed container for holding water and at least one hole near a bottom of the container with a valve for an animal to obtain water from the container. At least one leg underneath the container is provided for supporting the bottom of the container and the valve off of the ground. The enclosed container is tapered from a top of the container to the bottom of the container. A hanger assembly attaches to opposite sides near a top of the container, so that when the animal drinker is hung, the container rotates so that the front of the container rests substantially flush against a fence.

  • Patent number: 10314294
Abstract: A hanging bird feeder comprises a hanging attachment that allows a user to hang the feeder, a feed reservoir, and a plurality of individual perches arranged around the periphery of the bird feeder and adjacent respective feed-dispensing openings. The feeder has a plurality of shrouds each connected to respective perches and the perches are biased to rest in a first position where their associated shrouds are not covering their respective openings. The perches are independently moveable under weight to a second position where their respective shrouds are covering their respective openings. The feeder has a plurality of pivoting members pivotally attached at first ends under the feed reservoir and having free ends that extend under respective perches. The perches are biased to rest in their first position by means of torsion springs acting on the pivoting members and located adjacent the first ends of respective pivoting members.

  • Patent number: 10306871
Abstract: A feeding apparatus for poultry is disclosed, and comprises a feed source, a feed line formed at the feed source, a feed valve mechanism arranged in the feed line and which in a closed valve position blocks feed from passing through the feed line and in an open valve position allows feed to pass through the feed line. The feeding apparatus has a pecking block which is moveably mounted and mechanically coupled to the feed valve mechanism in such a way that the feed valve mechanism is closed when the pecking block is in a neutral position and the feed valve mechanism is open when the pecking block is in a deflected position due to pecking at the pecking block.

  • Patent number: 8733285
Abstract: A bird-operated interactive bird feeder is provided. The interactive bird feeder attracts birds and dispenses a substantially predetermined amount of bird feed (e.g. bird seed) when a bird operates a tool. Bird feed is held in storage in a feed hopper (i.e. housing) above a stage. An aperture is provided in the bottom of the housing large enough for the enclosed feed to flow freely from the housing to the stage. However, the aperture is equipped with the tool that causes the feed to bridge. When a bird operates the tool, the tool disrupts the bridged feed causing feed flow for a period of time, and then rebuilds the feed bridge when the bird ceases operation of the tool. Avid bird watchers can therefore enjoy watching birds for extended periods of time since the birds encounter larger amounts of feed at the stage.

  • Patent number: 5555843
Abstract: A striker-feeder includes a bucket having a bottom panel defining a hole therethrough, and a primary tube extends through the hole. A capped end of the primary tube is within the bucket and defines a pair of diametrically opposed apertures therethrough. A pivot tube extends through the diametrically opposed apertures and abuts the bottom panel of the bucket to pivotally connect the primary tube to the bucket. When an animal bumps the primary tube, feed within the bucket falls through the hole in the bottom of the bucket. The end of the primary tube that is extended from the bottom of the bucket is fitted with a threaded fitting. An extended striker configuration is achieved by threadedly connecting an extension tube to the end of the primary tube that is threaded.
