  • Publication number: 20130152875
Abstract: A device for controlling the behavior of an animal, which animal has a neck, eyes, and a head, is provided. The device includes a collapsible hood having a length extending between a collar end and a muzzle end. The collapsible hood is configurable in a collapsed state wherein the collar end and the muzzle end are in close proximity to the collar. The collapsible hood is lengthwise extendable into a deployed state, wherein the collar end and muzzle end are separated from one another and the hood covers at least a portion of the animal's head including its eyes. In the collapsed state the device when mounted on the animal does not diminish the animal's ability to interact with, or sense, its environmental surroundings. In the deployed state the collapsible hood is operable to substantially diminish the animal's ability to sense environmental surroundings outside of the hood using one or more of vision, smell, and hearing.

  • Publication number: 20120151884
Abstract: The invention relates to a visual aid (50), and more particularly, but not exclusively the invention relates to a visual aid for horses. The visual aid comprises first and second lateral portions (50a, 50b) that are adapted to be worn by a horse. In use the first portion (50a) is located on a lateral side of the head of the horse in front of the left eye of the horse; and the second portion (50b) is located on a lateral side of the head of the horse in front of the right eye of the horse. The result is that the eyes of the horse are drawn towards a distant fixation point of focus, between a virtual frame defined by the lateral portions, and so avoiding the problem of the horse having to lower its head, in order to see and thereby reducing muscle strain on the horse's eyes and neck.

  • Patent number: 5732415
Abstract: The present invention is an eye protection device adapted to be worn by a canine. The device comprises an eye enclosure element such as a transparent plastic goggle which is adapted to rest snugly against the face of a canine. A pair of side straps extend from opposing sides of the eye enclosure element to connect to a collar adapted to be worn about the neck of the canine. The side straps are length adjustable as by hook and loop attachments, snaps or pawl mechanism and couple to the collar along a selected length of the collar thereby allowing two-dimensional adjustment of the side straps. A preferred embodiment of the invention further includes a pivot element for easily rotating the eye enclosure element away from the eyes of the canine when the invention is not needed. Alternately, the invention can include anti-lift and anti-loss straps for maintaining use of the invention when the wearing animal is using the invention in inclement conditions.
