  • Patent number: 10119723
Abstract: The heat exchanger (1) comprises a helical flow conduit (8) for a liquid, made with a pipe (9) of extruded thermally conductive material, provided with a pair of facing and mutually parallel fins (13), which extend from a portion of the outer surface thereof. This pipe (9) is helically wound about a longitudinal axis (A-A) such as to form a sequence of adjacent turns (10) separated by interspaces (11) through which, during use, hot gases, in particular combustion fumes, flow. The fins (13) extend helically, towards the outside relative to the axis (A-A) of the helical conduit (8), and have respective pluralities of through-openings (20, 21) which interconnect the region (16) comprised between them and the interspaces (11, 14) defined with respect to the adjacent turns (10). Flow paths are thus defined through these fins (13), outside the helical conduit (9), for the hot gases which during use pass through the interspaces (11, 14) between the turns of the helical conduit (8).

  • Patent number: 8746184
Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for producing steam are provided. A steam boiler system may include a steam boiler. The steam boiler may comprise an enclosure with a burner, first and second fluid conveyance members, and one or more radiants therein. The burner produces hot combustion gases which warm the fluid conveyance members and thereby the fluid therein. The radiants are also heated by the combustion gases, and they thereby emit radiation which is absorbed by the fluid conveyance members and/or the fluid therein. The boiler system may additionally comprise a steam separator which separates out a steam component. The steam component can be directed back through the enclosure in a third fluid conveyance member to expand the steam before being fed to a steam engine to produce power.

  • Patent number: 7407382
Abstract: A steam generator in a heat regenerative engine includes a cylindrical combustion chamber that encloses a circularly wound coil of densely bundled tubes. The tube bundle is heated by two combustion nozzle assemblies, each having an air blower, a fuel atomizer, and an igniter. The igniter burns atomized fuel that exits the atomizer and is mixed with preheated air. The flames and heat from the combustion nozzle assemblies are directed in a centrifuge within the circular combustion chamber. This cyclonic circulation of combustion gases within the combustion chamber creates higher efficiency in the engine by subjecting the coil of tubes to multiple passes of heat, thereby promoting greater heat saturation relative to the amount of fuel expended. The relatively small diameter and large surface area of the tubes in the bundle allows the water and steam in the tubes to be heated to higher temperatures and pressures within a compact space, providing a highly efficient steam generator.

  • Patent number: 6604491
Abstract: Disclosed is a boiler apparatus useful for the heating of living and working spaces. The disclosed boiler apparatus incorporates a burner element and controller element that cooperate to provide a modulated firing rate. The modulated firing rate serves to increase the efficiency of the disclosed boiler apparatus. The boiler apparatus of the invention incorporates a heat exchanger and a combustion system. In operation, the control element collects and analyzes information from a multiplicity of sensors in order to modulate the firing rate of the burner element so as to maintain a selected output temperature for the water being heated. This monitoring activity by the control element also avoids short cycling of the boiler apparatus of the invention. • Patent number: 5878700
Abstract: An integrated reburn system for a cyclone-fired boiler has a reburn fuel feed nozzle through a cyclone burner into the cyclone barrel, or furnace, at a region of low-velocity fuel and air movement. The reburn fuel is injected at high velocity and mostly does not mix with the combustion fuels and gases within the cyclone barrel. The reburn fuel passes through the re-entrant throat of the cyclone into the main furnace, where it forms a reburn zone having a reducing atmosphere in which the reburn fuel reacts with combustion gases from the main combustion zone to convert NO.sub.x to N.sub.2, thereby reducing the amount of NO.sub.x emissions produced by the furnace.

  • Patent number: 4771738
Abstract: A dual sleeve boiler is arranged to dispose a portion (72, 74, 76) of its fluid conduit between a support member (64) of the boiler and the heat generating portion (20, 24) of the boiler. The end of a conduit through which water is introduced to the boiler is disposed between an enclosing means (24) which forms an axial end of the boiler and a cylindrical tube (64) disposed through the center of the boiler for purposes of supporting the boiler. As relatively cool fluid is introduced into the conduit of the boiler, it passes between the heat generating portions (20) of the boiler and the support tube (64) and provides a thermal barrier to prevent heat from traveling, through conduction, into the supporting means (64) which is attached to an external support member (71). This prevents heat from flowing into the external support member (71) and possibly damaging heat sensitive components attached thereto.

At least some of the annular ring tubes have different inner cross sections and/or are arranged in a manner of having different, unequal spacing distances one to the next. Thus, a substantially uniform main diameter of the flue tube (1) is maintained, and despite of this, the flow of heat carrier circulated is harmonized with the thermal load which is non-equally distributed along the axis of the combustion chamber, resulting in improved utilization of the heat energy radiation at substantially constant wall temperature along the flue tube (1).
