Water Grate Patents (Class 122/371)
  • Patent number: 5381741
Abstract: A system for providing thermal power to an electrical power plant wherein substantially whole trees are supplied as fuel without being processed into small woodchips or chunks. A stacked cooling grate suspends the substantially whole trees within the combustion chamber. The cooling grate is formed by stacking an upper tube and at least one lower tube vertically beneath the upper tube. The tubes of the cooling grate are supplied with water to cool the grate.

  • Patent number: 4195617
Abstract: A wood or coal burning stove having walls defining a fire chamber with a flue disposed in one of the walls. A door provides access to the fire chamber, and a vent for controlling the combustion air is provided in the door. A manifold connected to inlet and outlet pipes passing through the walls provides for circulation of water through the fire chamber to heat the water with a fire burning in the fire chamber. Fuel supporting members extend downwardly from the manifold to support the fuel below the manifold, a number of generally U-shaped pipes with both ends of each pipe in fluid communication with the manifold providing the fuel supporting members. A baffle or like structure is provided in the manifold for preventing short-circuiting between the inlet and outlet pipes, and the manifold is supported in a generally horizontal plane.

  • Patent number: 4026247
Abstract: A dump grate for use in a furnace is rotatably mounted therein and includes fluid coolant tubes sinuously arranged within refractory material comprising a grate plate for circulating coolant fluid. The grate plate is shiftable from a first substantially horizontal fuel supporting position to a nonhorizontal fuel dumping position. A rotatable conduit is arranged beneath the grate plate secured thereto for receiving coolant fluid inlet and discharge tubes for supplying coolant fluid and discharging same from the grate plate coolant tubes. Removable grate bars are arranged on portions of the surface of the grate plate, with the spacing provided between permitting selective varying of airflow through the grate plate for additional cooling purposes.
