  • Patent number: 11300287
Abstract: A support assembly (40) for supporting the furnace (22) of a boiler (10) to a support frame (12) of the boiler. The support assembly comprises a first and second assembly parts (56, 8). The first assembly part (56) attaches a pipe (18), f.ex. a downcomer, to a supporting beam (32, 88). The second assembly part (58) attaches the same pipe (18) to another supporting beam (30, 86). The support assembly (40) may be obliquely positioned. Alternatively, the support frame further comprises an oblique, connecting supporting beam (84) that connects the first and second assembly parts. In this case, the first and second assembly parts attach the pipe to the connecting supporting beam (84). The first and second assembly parts define first and second points of support (52, 4) that transmit loads. The first or second assembly part may be a hanger rod. A boiler plant comprises the above-mentioned boiler, support frame for the boiler and support assembly.

  • Patent number: 10260740
Abstract: A method generates superheated steam using heat generated in a boiler of an incineration plant. The pre-superheated steam is fed to a final superheater that includes a plurality of final superheater pipes through which the pre-superheated steam is guided and is finally superheated in the process. The final superheater pipes (are arranged at least partially in at least one cavity (formed in an interior of a wall element of the boiler and/or of a bulkhead arranged in the boiler. The cavity is closed off on a boiler side at least partially by a refractory material layer and is flowed over by flue gas released during combustion. A secondary medium flows through the cavity and is heated via heat transfer from the flue gas via the refractory material layer. The heated secondary medium is fed via a secondary medium feed line to a secondary heat exchanger.

  • Patent number: 9920924
Abstract: A boiler is disclosed in which the furnace is divided into a lower furnace and an upper furnace. The lower furnace uses water-cooled membrane walls, while the upper furnace uses steam-cooled membrane walls that act as superheating surfaces. A steam-cooled circuit includes a steam separator, a primary superheater, and the steam-cooled membrane walls of the upper furnace. During start-up, a diversion path is opened that reduces dry steam flow through the primary superheater and increases dry steam flow through the steam-cooled membrane walls of the upper furnace. This protects the steam-cooled membrane walls from excessive thermal stresses during start-up.

  • Patent number: 9874346
Abstract: A supercritical steam generator includes a downdraft furnace enclosure, a hopper tunnel, and a convection pass enclosure, with the hopper tunnel joining the downdraft furnace enclosure and convection pass enclosure together. Flue gas passes down through the downdraft furnace enclosure through the hopper tunnel and up through the convection pass enclosure. This structure permits the outlet steam terminals, which provide access to the resultant supercritical steam and/or reheat steam, to be located at a base of the steam generator rather than at the top of the steam generator as with conventional boilers. This reduces the length of the steam leads from the steam generator to a steam turbine that produces electricity using the supercritical steam.

  • Patent number: 4080933
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a marine steam boiler. It includes a furnace, and a convection section including a bank of steam generating tubes. The walls, roof and floor of the boiler are made into an air tight enclosure by being formed from finned water tubes adjacent ones of which are joined to one another by fins. The spacings of the adjacent tubes in the walls, floor and roof are all substantially identical. The water tubes forming these walls extend directly from a lower water drum through the walls to an upper steam water drum and so there is no difficulty of reduced circulation due to intervening headers. Also because the walls, roof and floor are air tight only a thin cover of refractory is required and this reduces problems of cracking when the boiler is used in a motor ship where it would be subject to considerable vibrations.
