Welding Patents (Class 122/DIG16)
  • Patent number: 5557901
Abstract: A buckstay system for a membraned-tube wall of a steam generator having a first wall section which meets a second wall section at an angle to form a corner. At least one buckstay extends across at least part of each wall section. A pair of tie bars are welded to each other at the corner, an end connection corner tie is welded at the corner to the pair of tie bars, and a pair of end connection buckstay brackets are welded to each end of the buckstays. A pair of pinned end connection links, an end connection corner tie and the end connection buckstay bracket transmit forces from one buckstay to the other wall's tiebar. Bending forces which tend to bend each wall section are transmitted to each respective buckstay which resists such forces.

  • Patent number: 4480594
Abstract: An economizer (16) located in the rear pass (12) of a steam generator having a vertical tube panel containing a plurality of parallel, vertically spaced horizontal tube portions (22) and a support therefor including a pair of plates (32, 34), one positioned on either side of the tube panel. First tabs or bars (46) which are integral at one end (50) with the first plate (32) extend horizontally beneath and support every other, or alternate horizontal tube portions (22), and are welded (52) to the second plate (34) at their other ends. Second tabs or bars (44) which are integral at one end (48) with the second plate (34) extend horizontally beneath and support the remaining, alternate horizontal tube portions (22) not supported by the first bars (46), and are supported at their other ends by ledges (54) contained on the first plate (32).

  • Patent number: 4296713
Abstract: A vapor generator is described wherein cross-over loops joining two different tube bundles are positioned in a stagnant area out of the flow of the heating fluid, thus reducing the tube metal temperatures in a highly stressed area. Tube anchor devices are provided to reduce expansion movement and stresses while permitting some relative movement and providing support during seismic disturbances.

  • Patent number: 4102309
Abstract: A water boiler comprising a housing for the water, which is comprised of front, rear and side walls, the side wall ends being connected to the rear and front walls by external fillet weld seams. A tube is mounted in outwardly flaring apertures in the front and rear walls, and the opposite tube ends protude beyond these walls and are connected thereto by external fillet weld seams. The tube consists of a sheet metal blank having two abutting edges extending the length of the tube and an external weld seam fluid-tightly connects the abutting edges between two adjacent ones of a plurality of circumferentially spaced and longitudinally extending sheet metal profiles affixed to the inner surface of the tube. A combustion chamber is mounted within the tube and is surrounded by the sheet metal profiles which operate as flues for combustion gases generated therein.
