Combined Lighting And Heating Patents (Class 126/232)
  • Patent number: 6846388
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for heating fluid with a gas heater and distilling fluid with the pilot light of the gas heater are disclosed. The apparatus for heating fluid and distilling fluid includes a main tank for containing fluid to be heated, a heater, adapted to have a pilot light, for heating the fluid in said main tank and an evaporator tank for vaporizing fluid received therein with heat from the pilot light. The method of heating fluid and distilling fluid includes heating a first volume of fluid with a heater having a pilot light and heating a second volume of fluid with the pilot light.

Abstract: A submersible, integral light and heater assembly (10) designed to be attached to an interior surface of a water containment structure (12) such as a hot tub, spa, pool or water fountain. The assembly (10) consists of an integral enclosure (40) having on three sides, an opening covered with a heat-resistant transparent glass (76). Within the enclosure (40) is attached a gas manifold (100) that when ignited, the gas produces a fire light and heat. The fire light is visible through the three enclosure openings and permeates through the water in the water containment structure (12) producing a mood setting atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 5417200
Abstract: A lantern hood can be inverted from an upright, light reflecting position in which it permits the lantern to be used as a lighting device to an inverted position in which it is usable as a support for cooking utensils and permits the lantern to be used as a stove. The hood includes a lid having apertures formed therethrough which can be opened when the hood is used as a cooker and closed when the hood is used as a reflector. The hood also preferably includes a cooking cylinder shaped so as to support standard sized camping utensils when the hood is inverted, and springs for pulling the globe of the lantern into contact with the inverted hood to channel the heat from the lantern through the cooking cylinder, thereby enhancing the hood's operation as a cooker.
