And Liquid Heater Is Submerged Under The Liquid Patents (Class 126/360.1)
  • Patent number: 10954138
Abstract: A purification system can provide for efficient heating of liquid via film heating, which, rather than heating a large volume of liquid, can heat a thin layer of liquid thus reducing the amount of energy required to evaporate the liquid. Film heating can enable evaporation of liquids using less energy than other methods. In addition, when liquids (e.g., seawater) having dissolved solids (e.g., salts) are heated, both the liquid and the solids must be heated. As evaporation occurs, the concentration of solids increases and more energy must be supplied to the liquid in order to cause evaporation. Because purification system can heat only a layer of liquid, less energy is required to heat the solids, which can allow for higher energy efficiencies in purifying liquids. These efficiencies can lead to decreased cost of potable water. Related apparatus, systems, techniques, and articles are also described.

  • Patent number: 7934664
Abstract: A compact hydronic space and water heating apparatus and system is disclosed for use in a recreational vehicle. A liquid heating medium, stored within a low pressure tank, is recirculated through a gas fired heater thereby maintaining a desired set point temperature. The liquid heating medium is further circulated through the vehicles hydronic space heaters to heat the interior of the vehicle. Further fresh domestic water is passed through a heat transfer coil within the tank whereby hot domestic water may be provided. An auxiliary heating device is attached to the tank whereby hot combustion engine coolant may assist in maintaining the temperature of the liquid heating medium within the tank and/or reversed to pre heat the combustion engine if and when needed.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for heating a liquid storage tank includes a liquid storage tank having an interior and a peripheral sidewall. An engine compartment is appended to the peripheral sidewall in front of the heat tube. An engine is disposed in the engine compartment. Heat given off from the engine during operation heats the engine compartment and such heat is transferred through peripheral sidewall to the interior of the liquid storage tank. An exhaust conduit extends into the interior of the liquid storage tank. Heat from hot exhaust gases passing through the exhaust conduit heats the interior of the liquid storage tank.

  • Patent number: 7316229
Abstract: The general concept of this invention is to utilize the high efficiency of heat transfer that is obtained by allowing the exhausting gas from the burner to come into intimate contact with the liquid to be heated. A housing adapted for partial immersion in the liquid of the tank and has an internal liquid heating chamber and defines inlet and outlet openings. A burner tube is supported within the housing and extends into the liquid and provides a combustion gas discharge opening. A burner assembly having a supply of combustible gas and air is in communication with the burner tube and has a burner nozzle being positioned to direct a flame into the burner tube. The burner tube has sufficient length for substantially complete combustion of a gas/air mixture within said burner tube and to discharge hot combustion gas into the liquid within said internal liquid heating chamber. The flame and hot combustion gas efficiently heat the liquid circulating through the chamber via the inlet and outlet openings.
