Abstract: A chafing dish for rapidly bringing catered food items up to the temperatures required for safe food handling and optimal flavor enhancement, and even heating of the food items thereafter without a constant monitoring of the flame height. The invention utilizes butane gas as a heat source and a burner control mechanism with a butane burner integrated into the base of a chafing dish, a bracket to hold a butane can securely in place, an engaging apparatus to start the flow of butane from the butane can to the burner, a copper tube to transport butane from the butane can to the burner, an electronic ignition switch and insulated wiring to ignite the butane at the burner, a burner control mechanism and regulator to regulate the flow of butane to the burner for the purpose of allowing a range of flame height and temperature, and a series of ventilation holes in the base of the chafing dish.

  • Patent number: 6932595
Abstract: A safety cover for burner dials of a stove is an apparatus that covers front-mounted control knobs or dials on stoves. The safety cover takes the shape of an elongated compartment that spans the width of the stove. The compartment is hinged along the bottom and connects to a square frame that is attached to the stove face via double sided foam adhesive tape or other appropriate adhesive means. When the safety cover is closed, it covers all front-mounted control knobs at once and is secured in the closed position at its top by one or two friction fit snap mounts. An adult user can simply release the snaps and open it in a downward manner to allow for easy and complete access to all knobs.

  • Patent number: 6877981
Abstract: A portable gas cooking range has a burner, a piezoelectric igniter therefor, a gas canister for supplying gas to the burner, an adjustable gas regulator for varying the flow of gas to the burner, and a flame failure safety device having a theremocouple located in close proximity to the burner and which is operably connected to a gas valve in the gas regulator. The gas valve is capable of opening and closing according to the electromotive force produced in use by the thermocouple, so as to shut off the flow of gas through the valve if the ignited burner is accidentally or inadvertently extinguished and, hence, prevent escape of gas from the burner when in a non-ignited condition.

Abstract: The invention concerns a safety gas valve (1) provided with a safety closure (23) and an operating lever (12) for the closure. The lever (12) is mounted mobile in rotation about an axis L in a cavity (34) circulating the gas and comprises two tabs (122, 123) extending transversely to the axis L, one driving and the other driven. The driving tab (122) drives the lever in rotation, and hence the driven tab (123) which is secured thereto, in response to a stress A when the valve is opened. The driven tab (123) enables to push back the safety closure (23) into an opening position allowing the gas to flow in the valve. If both tabs extend along respective mutually perpendicular directions, the lever (12) enables the cocking movement to return by 90 degrees. Said device reduces the thickness of the valve body, in particular for its fixing into a built-in cooking plate.
