  • Patent number: 11273278
Abstract: Components for a respiratory treatment apparatus that is capable of providing a humidified respiratory treatment permit a reduction in condensation in a patient interface and/or its gas delivery tubing. In some embodiments, a rainout valve that may be an integrated component of a humidifier output aperture, or coupled thereto, may reduce condensation with a vapor barrier operable to selectively block and permit humidified gas transfer from the humidifier. For example, the barrier may be operable to open in response to a flow of pressurized breathable gas that may be generated by a flow generator of the respiratory treatment apparatus. In the absence of such a generation of pressurized flow, the barrier may prevent a transfer of the humidified gas such as into a conduit for a patient interface by retracting to a closed position. Example vapor barriers may include a resilient membrane, cover, bellows, flap, shutter or other suitable valve.

  • Patent number: 10395867
Abstract: A self regulating mechanism for a storage water heater for preventing the operation of heating elements while the heating elements are not submerged comprises a liquid level switch and an electrical contactor which are each integrated with a storage water heater having at least a water tank, at least one heating element and thermostat pair, and an input voltage line. In operation, the electrical contactor is wired to selectively control the flow of electricity from the input voltage line to the thermostats and heating elements and the liquid level switch is operative to determine the water level and operate the switching of the electrical contactor based on whether the level of water in the water tank meets a predetermined threshold. As such, the electrical contactor will only permit electricity to flow to the heating element when the liquid level switch indicates that the water tank is substantially full.

  • Patent number: 10279140
Abstract: A pressure support system configured to provide pressure support therapy to a subject is described. The pressure support system comprises a humidifier configured to control the humidity of gas provided to the subject during a sleep cycle to ensure an amount of liquid will remain in the humidifier at the conclusion of an estimated usage time. The pressure support system is configured to ensure humidified breathing gas is delivered to a subject during a usage time within a pressure support usage period. During times when the subject's moisture demand is greater than amount of moisture available in the humidifier, the pressure support system may decrease the amount moisture in the breathing gas so humidified therapy is available during the entire time the user is asleep.
