Abstract: The present invention generally relates to a compact electrical cigarette rolling machine. The machine is particularly suitable for easily and quickly rolling tobacco into a cigarette. The tobacco is placed into a holding reservoir having tapered walls which help guide the tobacco into a rotating coil located near the bottom of a holding reservoir. The rotating coil then forces the tobacco through a hollow tube and into a pre-rolled paper cigarette in a compact and efficient manner. The machine has a support bar which allows the tobacco to become easily compacted within the paper of the cigarette without the pre-rolled paper becoming accidentally dislodged. The user may control how tightly the tobacco is packed within the cigarette by use of a control knob.

A tobacco receiving member is slidably retained within a base and movable longitudinally thereon to load tobacco into a cigarette tube secured to a nipple at its forward end. A cover is pivotally secured to the rearward end of the tobacco receiving member and slidable therewith with respect to the base. The cover is pivotally movable from an open position to a closed position overlying the tobacco receiving member. The cover is substantially of the same width as the base and has a pair of opposed inner tongues engagable under a respective elongated flange which projects inside the open channel-shaped base from opposed side walls thereof when the tobacco receiving member is retracted rearwardly over the base. An arresting member is provided in the bottom wall of the machine to permit the loading of tobacco in tubes of different length.

A cover is pivotally secured to the rearward end of the tobacco receiving member and slidable therewith with respect to the base. The cover is pivotally movable from an open position to a closed position overlying the tobacco receiving member. The cover is substantially of the same width as the base and has a pair of opposed inner tongues engagable under a respective elongated flange which projects inside the open channel-shaped base from opposed side walls thereof when the tobacco receiving member is retracted rearwardly over the base. Accordingly, the cigarette making machine is very compact in dimension and can be easily carried by a user person.

Abstract: This invention relates to portable manually operable cigarette making machines, one problem is the number of moving parts any reduction of these parts reduces the cost of the machine and the wearing of these parts. These machines have two basic functions controlled by a single drive handle, the first controls compaction of tobacco, the second ejection of tobacco. The compaction function is improved by two alternative cam arrangements interacting with the compactor. In one embodiment, a stud moving in an internal cam raceway controls all cam motion, this greatly simplifies backward and forward motion of the compactor, preferably the stud is a roller stud. In the other embodiment, an internal cam cooperates with an internal cavity of the compactor. In both embodiments movement of the handle drive, first moves the compactor forward, then the compactor remains stationary, while further motion of the handle ejects the tobacco.

Abstract: A compact cigarette making machine is disclosed. The machine consists of a hollow channel-shaped base carrying a tobacco receiving member which is longitudinally slideable within the base. A cover is pivotally secured to the tobacco receiving member and is slidable therewith with respect to the base. An elongate tobacco injection spoon is removably carried by the base and is stationary therewith, as a hollow circular nipple for reception of a preformed cigarette tube is provided at the forward end of the tobacco receiving member. A tobacco receiving slot is provided in the tobacco receiving member and the cover is provided with a projection for compacting tobacco positioned in the slot. With the cover closed and tobacco positioned in the slot and a cigarette tube positioned on the nipple, rearward movement of the cover and tobacco receiving member with respect to the base results in the injection of a compacted wad of tobacco into the cigarette tube.

A tube-like part on the one side wall can receive a cigarette paper tube inside which the tobacco roll which has been formed between the rollers can be fed by means of the push-rod.

Abstract: The machine which is of lightweight, compact and economical construction has an elongate base having formed on its upper surface at one end a tobacco receiving and compacting chamber and a cover having a tobacco compactor mounted on its lower surface pivotally mounted on the base and movable from open tobacco insertion position to closed tobacco compacting position where the tobacco compactor forms a cylindrical chamber in the recess. One end of the recess is closed by a removable plate carrying an injection nipple and tobacco formed in the cylindrical chamber is transferred by a reciprocally movable injection spoon through the nipple and into a preformed cigarette tube positioned on the nipple. The nipple and injection spoon are easily removable from the machine for cleaning or replacement.

Abstract: A pocket-sized roll-your-own cigarette maker is disclosed. The cigarette maker includes one or more elements defining a tobacco chamber to receive a charge of tobacco to be made into a single cigarette, and a mandrel which serves as a form for making a cigarette wrapper into a paper tube to receive the tobacco charge. The mandrel includes a tamping device for tamping the charge of tobacco into the proper shape and into place in the paper tube. A tongue member may be provided on the tamping device to aid in moving the tobacco charge into the tube. A stop element may also be provided to hold the paper tube in place adjacent the tobacco chamber to receive the charge of tobacco.

The machine is of the type where a supply of tobacco for a single cigarette is compacted within a chamber and is then injected into a preformed paper cigarette tube by means of a spoon. In the invention, movable component parts are carried by an assembly plate formed from a single blank of sheet metal, the chamber and means to guide the spoon are provided by bending portions of the blank. The assembly plate is secured to a plastic outer housing by deforming heated plastic locator projections provided within the housing into contact with the plate.

Abstract: A manually operated machine is provided for compressing a charge of tobacco into a cylindrical shape and inserting the compressed charge into a preformed cigarette tube. It comprises a body having a nozzle for supporting the cigarette tube, a sliding compression member directly connected to an operating handle, and an ejector such as a tobacco spoon and ejection plug for injecting the cylindrical charge of tobacco through the nozzle into the cigarette tube. The ejector cooperates with a back edge of a tobacco insertion slot, which is directed at a small acute angle thereto, to exert a scissors-like cutting action on protruding strands of tobacco whereby there is produced a clean separation of the charge of tobacco to be compressed.

Abstract: The invention relates to a cigarette making machine of the kind having a fixed member and a movable packing block together defining a cylindrical cavity for compressed tobacco, a nozzle communicating with the end of the cavity for supporting a preformed paper tube and an ejector for ejecting the charge of compressed tobacco through the nozzle into the paper tube. A new operating mechanism for such a machine comprises a sliding member including a rack and a pivoted lever secured to the compression member having gear teeth in meshing engagement with the rack and operatively connected to the ejector. Restraining means restrains rotation of the lever during a first portion of the travel of the sliding member during which the tobacco is being compressed, after which said means disengages from the lever to permit rotation thereof in a second portion of the travel of the sliding member in which said ejector forces the charge of compressed tobacco through the nozzle into the paper tube.
